The Spirit R is the best car ever made. I've seen a lot of FDs but I've never had the fortune of seeing the Spirit R in person, much less driving one but I know all about it's unicorn status. I used to daily drive an FC for a few years and became obsessed with how the rotary produces peak power so high in it's RPM range. Once you go rotary, you become rotarded

Fellow Rotard, here. I've owned four RX-7s; two first gens (an 12A SA & a 13B FB), and two second gens (an '88 GTU & a '90 Turbo-II). All these modern cars have one of these flaws: 1. excessive use of engineered fake crackles from their exhausts 2. electric power steering 3. high seating position 4. owners with tacky stereotype 5. heavy dry weight figure 6. too easy to be driven by footballers, kardashians etc

Daniel, actually your 100% wrong. It was more due to the fact that compared to it's predecessor the R33 was considered a whale, being both heavier and larger and feeling it too... It was never an R33 vs R34 thing, hence the R34 was built to recapture the original R32 essence in a sense. R34 is shorter with shorter wheelbase and to have much more tech packed in and weigh almost identical to R33 is no mean feat.

they won't make another RX-7 because they simply can't. they don't have a bussiness case for it, which means they basically can't payback the cost of building, designing, ETC of the car (they can't sell enough)
@nickfury12796 жыл бұрын
Mazder_ why not do what they did for some of their cars back in the day? If I recall correctly, Mazda offered variants of some of their rotary-powered cars with normal piston engines instead. So you could basically have the same chassis, with the choice of either a piston engine or a rotary engine. So why not do that today, but make the piston engine standard, and the rotary engine available as a special-order type thing.
@nickfury12796 жыл бұрын
Barring that though, if they can’t bring back the RX-7 in all its full, dorito-powered glory, it would be awesome if they brought back the body, and put in something like a straight-six or V6. Hell they could bring back whatever engine they put in the Mazdaspeed3. It would be a great choice for people who want something with a little more power than a Miata. They could call it the MX-7 or something like that

People in general are afraid of any car with a rotary due to the bad rep they've gotten about being "unreliable". In reality that "unreliable" isn't a label for the engine, but moreso owners. A rotary won't take shit from you, unlike piston engines, so if you keep fucking up the rotary will tell you to fuck off and blow apex seals, much faster than pistons go out. Bought a 1989 RX-7 FC turbo II S5 this summer. It has no records of being rebuilt or fixed in a workshop, and is closing in on 110K kilometers. The seller did have the latest oil change papers and some emissions based papers (that the road services here thankfully ignored, dodging a huge registration fee bullet). This was a dealship BTW. It's most likely true that the car hasn't seen a professional mechanic in almost 30 years, and it's still running fine.
@TheNuke957 жыл бұрын
KoopaXross couldn’t have said it better. I had a rusted ‘90 turbo ii but I ripped out EVERYTHING that makes it a turbo ii and put it in a clean ‘91 coupe. So I guess I have a new turbo ii :). Rotary power!!

KoopaXross dude i love rotary cars. My dad is an amazing mechanic but he tells me to stay away from them. Says they are unreliable. But i feel like theyre just more car enthusiasts oriented you know? Do you think they are reliable?
@TheNuke957 жыл бұрын
cesar they’re very reliable! All the “issues” that they’re known for were caused my dumbasses who just drove the car and never checked their oil or coolant or blah blah. Also all the living issues and cooling issues have been resolved. It’s 2017 not 1993 lol. These cars have been majority improved since only downside is their fuel economy but idc about that.
@blyndrotor7 жыл бұрын
cesar No offense but dad probably knows little about rotors so knows little about what he's talking about. Many tales exist about the rotary. Some true, some not, many greatly exagerated. Treat a rotor like a piston engine and it will bite you in the wallet soon enough. Basic rules are. Warmerup. Not just idling in the yard, just don't give it a hard time till she's up to temp. After that. GO NUTS. Coolerdown. Premix. DO NOT skimp on REGULAR maintenance. A redline a day keeps the mechanics at bay. For the love of god, know the limits of your fuel system. They don't like lean outs. Get a (proper) compression test if you're buying. Along with an attempt to get a bit of history of the vehicle if possible. Maintain a rotary engine correctly and you will get many years of trouble free running. Many pass 250k kms with correct maintenance and care.

Very nice video woke me up memories 15 years ago. The cars look so new that you think they are models 2018. All Japanese cars of that generation are unforgettable as long as they pass. I personally, if I went back to production I would buy one even though it has been so many years!

Both are amazing but the Nur prices are rediculous at this point and overvalued in my opinion, the Spirit R is undervalued but going up fast too. Love them both equally

The price will skyrocket further when the R34 becomes legal in USA. Damn Yanks and their Fast and Furious.
@tokyohunter11196 жыл бұрын
The Spirit R in Australia still on the 40k to 50k mark whilst the Nür is on 190k and up. You can buy a used GT3 RS with the Nür price.

Nissan should stop producing the R35 and go back to making the R34. Of course making it more modern and matching today standards, still with RB26.

when nissan producing r34 again, it never be a legendary car more

Well at least they're the only Japanese car manufacturer that actually still produces sports cars. Honda, Toyota, and Mazda have never really given us anything thing since the NSX, Supra, and RX-7. Nissan has continued the legacy of the GT-R and the Z since day one.

+ssjMaximum22Goku NSX 2017, Lexus LFA, and Mazda RX-Vision ? well since 2008 Nissan GTR R35 is always compare to AMG or M Series. so bored looking at R35. where the R36 ? im a R34 fan boy but im sick looking Nissan adore so much on R35

+Ghost Armor and now Honda Civic FK8R is newest japanese sport car.
@ssjMaximum22Goku7 жыл бұрын
Ghost Armor LFA: discontinued way too quickly, RX-Vision: still a vision, new NSX-overpriced and nowhere nearly as good as the original, and the Civic- never going to be a sports car. Honda, Toyota, and Mazda don't give a rat's ass about making performance cars, their only concern is money. Nissan has at least tried to keep their performance car heritage alive after all of these years.

This is a video that makes me aware how lucky I am and also how many of you will probably judge me. I used to own a 1st gen back in 1992 just as the FD was launched. Always dreamed of owning one. Eventually bought a 1992 FD touring version in 2008. Had it for a couple of years and let it go (sold it for £3k ouch!). In 2015 I imported a 2002 Bathurst R. A lovely unadulterated car that I only use very fleetingly and now keep in a temp controlled garage. Last year I was scanning auto trader for general pricing and I saw a Spirit R for sale. In a moment of impulse I made a call and bought it. Been sat in my garage alongside the Bathurst. The problem is that to drive the Bathurst I have to have the seat very declined (I am 6’ 5 and a bad back). The Spirt R has fixed recaro seats which make it virtually impossible for me to drive with and comfort. Apart from driving it into the garage I have not yet taken it out for a spin. Looks great though.

Thanks for this video. Also, thanks for not staging a drag race between those cars, that would have been a sin. The RX-7 is a work of art, but I feel it would have been so much better with a conventional engine.
