They didn't discontinue the R34 because it was unpopular, but because they needed their cars to appeal to a much larger audience. I guess they couldn't do both at the same time.

It may be sacrilege and I always get people calling me crazy but I'm one of those Skyline fans that prefers the R33 over the R34. Not by a lot, it just holds a tiny edge in terms of aesthetics as far as my tastes go. They just look so good. I've seen some examples painted in Bayside Blue and they're eye wateringly gorgeous.
