Overview of an interesting JDM Patlite beacon. I love the purple color, and figured a video was in order.

In New Zealand a pilot vehicle would use amber & purple flashing lights for over size loads.

Purple is used in USA on Funeral Lead Cars and hearses. Unfortunately, they too have changed to those awful LEDs. I'd probably get halogen bulbs for that and really brighten it up. Although, I did that one time before with a light and actually melted it, because it was that cheap WOLO plastic junk... Had a different styled one, and it melted the spinning rotator. The flashlight bulb of the time was all it could handle.

So I would agree, that a halogen bulb would add a better "pop" unfortunately a halogen bulb would destroy the reflector.

Thats cool. The Funeral industry used purple years ago I remember, wonder why they went away from that?

They didn't. Purple is still in use by funeral vehicles all over the country. I see them often.

Yes and No, this largely depends on your location. Yes Purple is typically Funeral, however as of late other groups have started using it, like private security agencies. Not all Funeral Homes use lighting, some did but no longer do so.

Florida law requires funeral to have purple lights, as do many other states.
