I'm not even a part of the speedrun community, I just watch them, and even to me it's obvious that there's nothing easy about finding or using a lot of those glitches, much less remembering them and executing them flawlessly throughout the entire game. Either way, I'm pretty sure those people have no idea how much work it actually is.

This is an awesome route! I might break into this. SA is a bit too long for me and the om0 stuff really intimidates me. Maybe I'll just use a clothes replay and include that as a "minor glitch" ;)
