an even easier way to do it* most trucks have literally a plug in the firewall that is the rear harness (tail lights/fuel pump/reverse lights bla bla bla) in your haynes manual or if you have the dealer service manual (even better) you can get the color of the wire.. So you simply look under your cab see the harness running from the rear of the truck to the front, follow it up to the firewall, locate the wire that sends power to your TAIL LIGHTS/PARKING LIGHTS, then simply splice and solder in your power wire to the cab lights.. I like this method because 99% of the time trucks are built to have the tail light harness hacked into to wire in the trailer lights, so almost always the manufacturer knows your going to put a bigger load on this wire. Where they don't expect you to wire it directly into the switch. not that it makes a dam difference, I just find it easier this way. As for the ground I would hard wire each one to the body with a small self tapping screw.

Why did you wire the black wires into 2 banks? Why not one continuous daisy chain all 5 power wires together. The same way you did the white ground wires.

How was it putting the headliner back up, that’s what I’m worried about on my truck. Did you need to use headliner adhesive or did it just go back on.

For passing those wires through you can go with a little bit larger hole like quarter inch, insert a piece of heat shrink about 1 to 1 1/2 in long and silicone around it. Then you can pass your wires through freely without getting them messy

For modern trucks, anything after 2010 or so I would suggest bringing in a positive 12 volt lead from your battery with a fuse and then putting a relay in the fuse box area off of your light switch so you're not drawing from your OEM light system. This will bypass any ridiculous computer sensitivities on current reading.
@waynebeck7801 Жыл бұрын
So did you need to use a relay? I didn’t get a good look how you actually connected these lights. Thanks for the video.

lol I always held off on installing cab lights on my '90 F150 because I thought it was too light duty of a truck for them. But honestly, I dig them on the danger ranger. They always look good. I am nervous about messing with the headliner on my '67 F250, the previous owner restored the interior and it's all pristine. Guess if I mess it up I'll just replace it. Also, regarding paint and brake cleaner, the way I'm planning on doing the marking is with soapstone. I'm working with lunar green paint, not white. But I'm sure that a charcoal pencil would work great for lighter paints without needing brake cleaner to wipe off. If you have a welder friend or a batshit crazy art lady friend, you can probably borrow either of those things.

They look a lil weird on a single cab “mini” truck 😂 I understand throwing them on a 1500 or f-150 because if you lift it or get bigger tires they match well this just seems off 😂😂 however that doesn’t mean I don’t like them! Awesome job man thanks for the how-to 🤙🏼
