I just heard this tune and it is love at first sight such amazing instrumental interplay or love at first listen lol I have listen to the guys for 45 yrs in there various configurations RTF. Jlp. I think its my favorite song right now. Such beauty. And yes its cool Al quotes layla. Such a master of the guitar love Stanley Clark. His solo is amazing. Love the unison stuff Al and JLP do. 10 stars on this one.

This was my first sober concert. Austin Texas 1995. Bought the CD and got all three signatures. Gave it to my brother. Wonder if he still has it.

@@monabonejakon2797 Hes talking about the concert at city park I think , not Backyard . Were you at SRVs show at Town Lake 1990 ? Old Austin RIP.
@monabonejakon27973 жыл бұрын
@@boweevil6442 I saw Rite of Strings at the Backyard 1995, the year it was released. I've only been there twice. Rite of Strings and Jethro Tull 2002. I didn't see SRV Town Lake 1990. The loss of old Austin and SRV are great tragedies. Had to leave my home town couldn't afford Austin, now live at the sacred spring where the temp is always the same.

Thanks for posting this.The first time I saw JLP was front row in 1977. The Aurora tour, at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach-both shows- .Was a fan from his work with Zappa. I saw him a few years later at the Hollywood Bowl and then again after I moved to Portland at the Paramount and then at the Civic. His music and this song made me learn how to play guitar. JLP along with Allan Holdsworth, Return to Forever and Tony Williams Lifetime gave me the most inspiration.Please remember this was a time when the record companies and radio were ramming disco down our throats!!!! I still like to play along with them at home.

This Montreux concert from 1994 brings together 3 of the great talents of jazz fusion. Stars in their own right, Al Di Meola (guitars), Stanley Clarke (bass), and Jean-Luc Ponty (violin) reach new levels of virtuosity as a trio. A triad of mastery !

"Renaissance" has long been my favorite JLP composition, with the gorgeous Patrice Rushen piano solo on the Aurora album. This performance here is by FAR my favorite live performance. Di Meola channeling "Layla" just adds to the magic. So glad this video has returned to KZbin. For some reason, I couldn't find it over the past year or two. Grateful and blessed.

It was fun to hear DiMeola quote "Layla" in his solo, but it's not the way of jazz quotes & 'teases' to 'milk it' for quite so long... A couple bars is adequate.
