J.M. Jarre at his best, I think this is one of his finest live concerts. Also the cooperation with The Beijing Symphony Orchestra, The Chinese National Orchestra, The Beijing Opera Chorus, and several individual Chinese artists results in a beautiful synergy of Jarre's music as we know it and traditional, Chinese instruments.

this is one of the few concerts JMJ has officially released on DVD (actually a nice 2 DVD/1 CD package, THX certified with DTS 5.1 audio), it's just a shame that I really didn't like this concert, I've only watched it twice and to me the different versions of popular songs didn't work, JMJ looked pretty emotionless throughout, plus the biggest disappointment for me was no fireworks, I wish he would release some of his previous concerts on 4K bluray, I'm sure AI could help with this.

Whereas the music is as wonderful as I remembered it from my childhood, this concert doesn't impress me anymore. Visuals are nice, but in most cases we don't see what and how Jarre is playing on his instruments. He could play it all from playback and we wouldn't notice. Also he totally lack any emotions in this concert.

That's because he IS playing (most of it) from playback. Only the intro improvisations and the Chinese musicians' performances are live. Basically he is D.J.-ing his AERO compilation, leaving some space here and there for the live guest solos, the theremin intros, the wind controllers etc. Debunked years ago.. BUT, during the 2010s, he fixed all that. His concerts that were performed not in open places, but in stadiums and theaters, were really performed live. Yet nowadays, he's back into D.J.-ing..
