I think you've grown accustomed to it by eating dishes with small amounts of cilantro and gradually built up a taste for it. However it's *VERY* true that genetics determine if you think it tastes like dirty dish water or amazing.

I thought there were new studies out about cilantro with it being a receptor in the brain. Because my mom and sister hate cilantro and say it tastes like soap but my brother myself and my dad all love cilantro.

I asked my cilantro-loving friend what it tastes like and the way she describes it I cannot wrap my head around why people love it so much. It sounds like lettuce or parsley. People say it’s “fresh” but I cannot imagine wanting any of the foods it’s traditionally added to to taste fresher. Idk I was expecting garlic 2.0 or something with how obsessed people are

it's actually because as we age, the number of taste buds we have decreases. so when are child we are more sensitive to different tastes but as we grow, we lose that sensation hence, we are able to eat strong taste without having much sensation

It's the most offensive taste for me personally. Even the smallest amount tastes like somebody sprayed my food down with perfume. I just want to make sure no one puts it in my food. There's other foods I don't like too much but there not anywhere near as offensive.

I agree. I used to not like cilantro, soy milk, tofu etc as a kid. Now that I'm a full grown adult I love cilantro, soy milk, tofu and a lot of food I used to dislike when I was younger. I think it's growing up and enjoying different kinds of food therefore developing a taste for complicated flavours?

My youngest son (20) used to hat cilantro as well, yet over the years he developed a taste for it, and loves it now. His genetic testing he did (23 & me) said he mist likely hates cilantro. I'm starting to think that it's just an acquired taste that anyone can learn to like if they keep trying it. Also, I am not a big fan of beets but I've learned to love them pickled! Love your channel!

I know people are different, but it still boggles my mind that people think that! Maybe it’s because I grew up with it, being Mexican and all, but it’s such a delicious and refreshing herb! Same here Irish Scottish Norwegian 1.9% Mesoamerican at first it tasted strange then as I got older I Started Loving It tried it here and there at Mexican restaurants now I take two pieces of loaf bread nothing but Dukes mayo and cilantro leaves. and I also like to grind it up in a blender with a little water and put small amounts in Ziploc baggies lay them down flat and freeze it and break off a hunk to put in my soups this way the cilantro last a long time and do not lose its flavor also blending it releases the strong cilantro flavor so you only have to use a tiny bit I'm 62 now that 1.9 is kicking in hard

I find it interesting that people like to called coriander, "cilantro" I am Hispanic and I have nothing against the use of Spanish words, but I never understood that. It took me a minute to realize that when I went to my local store and asked for coriander, the produce worker had no idea what I was asking for.

As a kid, I did not like onions or peppers. Fast forward to now, I use them all the time when I cook. Sometimes I sautee onions and peppers and just eat them with white rice or Just Egg.

The reason I hate cilantro is my guinea pigs like it, so its always in the fridge-meaning some of it rots sometimes because of how fast cilantro rots. And rotten cilantro is yucky 🤮 so I always associate cilantro negatively

I think it is how it is grown or how well it's washed or something because I eat cilantro often but every once and in a while I get a batch that tastes like soap. I can kind of smell the difference sometimes and if I get a batch that tastes like soap I buy it from a another company instead

I love avocados now, but I used to feel the same as you. I couldn't possibly describe what it tastes like. But I know it's good with salt, lime and chile powder. Guacamole is my favorite way to eat it now. I don't know what changed for me but it was during my 2nd pregnancy. Still I know exactly what you are saying because I vividly remember when I felt the same way. I support you wholeheartedly on this!! 😄👍

Pretty much nonsense. The Taste of Cilantro is the Taste od Aldehydes, which is what is in Soap and gives it it´s distinctive Smell and also taste. Humans get used to pretty much everything tho.

I can't stand cilantro.. Chinese parsley. I've tried to like it. Although I am part Filipino born and raised in Hawaii it's not something I grew up with because I didn't eat pho and many other southeast Asian dishes. Thai was an exception. These days I like a wider variety and enjoy pho, but I won't eat the cilantro leaves. AND...if it's chopped in something like friend rice, forget it. The stems of the parsley are worse! Bleh!🤣😂🤣 However, I'm a big fan of watercress and arugula. YUM!!!!😋
