You're more likely to see it in writing, but it occurs in speaking here and there. Maybe you'll notice it sometimes now! :)

Thank you so much for your hard work.. this is really helpful. Could you please tell me the exact meaning of the word ‘as’ in this sentence. I always see this kind of news in papers. Christiano scores a hattrick as juventus win 4-0 Is that mean because or at the same time or any other exact meaning🤔
@JeanietheEnglishTeacher3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you find this helpful! The 'as' in the sentence you gave would be a conjunction with a meaning of 'while,' 'at the same time.' In your sentence, it would include a bit of a causative meaning -- not as causative as 'so', but still giving the idea that the hattrick led to the win (because the win was basically secured at the same time as the hattrick).

Can we use inversion in subordinate clause There is two examples this the normal sentence As. 1) This is the time when the key is there . 2.)This is the time when my friend is there. "INVERSION" is used in subordinate clause loke this 1) This is the time when "there" is the key . 2)This os the time when "there" is my friend . In both inverted sentence Is "THERE" word still adverb of place.or not

In both of the examples you give (This is the time when "there" is the key; This is the time when "there" is my friend), there is no inversion in the subordinate clause, because "there" is the subject. With the quotation marks around it, it refers to the WORD itself. In "This is the time when 'there' is the key," you are saying that the word "there" is the key, the solution, to some puzzle. It's a strange meaning, but it's the only way I can make sense of the sentence. The second sentence is even stranger: "This is the time when 'there' is my friend." That indicates that the word "there" is your friend. Maybe that word is helping you in some way, so you consider it to be your friend. In any case, both sentences are talking about the word "there," and it is the subject of the subordinate clause.

Your accent is very clear, but in the word ( direct ) your pronunciation was like Australian accent.
