Its crazy stuff like this doesn’t get many views because people are focused on modern fancy stuff but this is legit stuff here simple and effective. Thank you 🙏

My coach always said if your fundamentals are crisp, you won't need the fancy stuff. These details that make the fundamentals work are missing the farther we get away from the source.

I have done over 50 seminars over 15 years around the world with phenomenal black belts, but I have never been more impressed and blown away by Profesor' Jean Jacques explanation and understanding of jiujitsu. To this day. Muito obrigado Profesor. May you have another 50 years of teaching everbody.

ROFL oh my goodness Jean Jacques, i love this. i have been doing this almost instinctually for several months now. whenever someone tries to getup in my guard, i either scooch myself backwards and try to climb bit higher, and/or i just get my legs in between the gap beneath their thighs and try to sweep them. I like the details of the sweep JJM shows. JJM is one of da best ever!
@Presence_o_Mind Жыл бұрын
These details are so amazing. It really infuriates me how so many teachers don't take the time to go over such useful and important details. My instructor never even taught where to insert your knee when hip escaping from side control. I always got stuffed by my opponent's knee. Never taught high legging over for guard retention either. It's so frustrating that I have to dig so deep just for effective fundamentals!

I think a lot of instructors know this stuff in their body but they're not fully aware of what they're doing. So they miss some details.

I stopped 8 years in BJJ and came back in 2019 so while I am still young, this is the kind of stuff I look and works with many new school hyper fast kids, this is the diablo in the details, I am putting it to the test tomorrow. Muito Obrigado.

Thank you for the options coach. Because I am short, I usually abandon closed guard once my partner stands in favor of something else, usually X-guard. I will need to experiment with these ideas and see where they go!

Thanks a lot for this! Going low and then going high looks like an effective game to play. Does that low closed guard have a name? Grapevine guard or something? Would like to see you explain that position: its strenghts and weaknesses for both top and bottom player.

My basics suck and I'm a 3 stripe white belt. I'm 2 gradings away from my Blue belt test. Fancy stuff doesn't mean anything until you don't have the command of the fundamentals of anything, in this case BJJ.

This is why I haven't found a good teacher yet. Something has been lost along the way in bjj and it's stuff like this that's steadily being filtered out in the teaching. Too many black belts out there teaching garbage. I say strip all these black belts and make them go back to white belts and go back to the original teachers and get taught again. BJJ is becoming watered down with useless trash like so many martial arts before it. Better get back to the basics before it's too late.
