Almost all military gear is marked Government Property when manufactured, because it is built on an exclusive contract for the military, it does not indicate that it can't be possessed by anyone else. The military sells lots and lots of items as surplus. Most larger bases have something called the DRMO office (that is what they used to call it) that sells surplus military equipment to anyone who wants to buy it, typically the public is allowed to go to those.

A lot of folks leaving really nasty comments. FYI a lot of times when we PCS housing isn’t ready right away and we have to go to temp housing, our house hold goods end up getting stored and it’s not always in a government facility and not always in the shipping crates they start out in. Sometimes when we retire/separate our household goods sit in storage for a few months while we relocate and find a new job and home (up to a year). It usually happens when we PCS overseas somewhere that we aren’t allowed to take all our stuff so the belongings get broken up in to two shipments. One gets stored for 1-2yrs, the other is supposed to arrive shortly after we do at our destination. In either case the contracted movers regularly lose our belongings. They don’t actually lose them though. They put some or all of our stuff in a civilian self storage place sometimes, occasionally not in shipping crates, and somehow forget where they left it. We come back stateside or call to have or post retirement PCS completed and that’s when we find out half our stuff is GONE! The military branch has no explanation because it’s the contractors fault. The packing contractor isn’t to blame cause they sent it all, the receiving contractor isn’t to blame because obviously not everything arrived. It’s just a whole bunch of finger pointing. And none of the three can say where anything was stored either. This man has a MoH and obtained Sgt Maj. He didn’t get there being a scum bag. The majority of those cases were empty, he took em home empty. See things like that (back packs, obsolete Kevlar, ammo pouches, etc) are considered perishable in the military. Once the item is written off the case is trash. I doubt seriously they lost that unit for non payment. It’s more likely that lowest bidder shit movers sent one guy over to pack a 3-4 berm house alone over 2 days. Dude just threw shit into anything he could find, bundled up totes that were already packed and stacked shit for the truck. (I had movers pack two bags of garbage and my purse with car keys and passports. Luckily the box with my purse and the passports was still staged in the house. Discovered the garbage 16 months later when we returned stateside.) Then part of their stuff went to a 2yr duty station and this stuff was lost in shipping when they got back stateside.

The original owner was an Army senior NCO (Sergeant First Class or Master Sergeant). The first award you found was a Bronze Star. He was a paratrooper given the lowering line you found in one of the bags (used to lower your equipment before you land). At least that's what it looked like by the glimpse I got of that line. The case at the end verified that. He MAY have been military police judging by some of the other stuff you found in there that point to law enforcement. OR a medic given the medical stuff in there (or a combat lifesaver). Don't worry about the Government Property markings. The military sells stuff off with great frequency. The bag with poles in it is either an antenna or camo net poles. There may be parts in the bottom of that bag that will determine what it is. Honestly, some of this stuff he should have turned in before getting out of the Army. Or, he bought it afterward. The black cases up high in back are pretty commonly purchased by military folks to store or ship their stuff around - beats a duffle bag. I have a different model, and that is where most of my military stuff is stashed. Some of the holsters and the first helmet you found are not US. The field phone made me chuckle. I haven't seen that particular model, but have seen others from the Soviet era. Hey, they still work! I'm glad you send the personal stuff to the person who rented the unit. There's a story in all that stuff, because it's not likely that he would have left some of those things.

God bless you for sending his military awards, challenge coins, certificates, and personal papers and photos. Having a husband who is a Navy Veteran and a father that was an Air Force veteran, I know how important those military items are. The challenge coins are collectibles but they are important to the men and women that achieved and earned them. They aren’t just important for the men and women in the military but also for the families. Thank you for your kindness.

The box you said was kitchen and that you would put out to the yard sale had a white bowl or pot with tan leaves on it. That is a Catherineholm and worth $200 + depending on condition. Please pull that piece out.

They REALLY need an expert to help them when they get home with everything. I too have noticed, they just discard things that have a LOT of value. It's a younger generation thing LOL.
@sandramb015 ай бұрын
@@LadyDragonsblood I think its helpful when we point out things too. Once you are told once, its easy to recognize those pieces when you come across them again. I have been reselling vintage for almost 13 years now and I have learned so much. Also, I have had many peers tell me or correct me on some things and I always look at it as a learning experience and lock that info in. I once sold a bracelet for $40 and the buyer sold it for $500, after that gut punch I try to research everything. lol Also, I am still learning too. ITs hard to know something about everything. (even for the family know it all) lol I could never know all those weird metal pieces were gun parts. Thats just not in my wheelhouse, but they knew instantly.
@LadyDragonsblood5 ай бұрын
@@sandramb01 I agree... it just bothers me that if the item is unknow, "just dishes or books" they are discounted... video games aren't the only thing of any value. They really need an expert helping them.. and yes, pointing things out too...IF they read all the comments.

Those foods are great to have in case anything happens where transportation isn't delivering to stores. Things like earthquakes can happen and on and on. My church in MA advised us to have emergency food on hand. I no longer live there but I do think having emergency food is a good idea. ❤❤❤ many blessings to you all. Broly bear is such a good baby. You really are blessed. ❤

Commonly called a chalk line or a chalk box. You can use it on floors to mark where walls go. You can mark long lines on wood that needs to be sawed. A very quick way to create a long straight line.
