“I’m like Gatsby without the problems” it’s so true and somewhat funny. I love it.

I think maybe it was intentional on Sheen's part, because he was trying to seem very worldly but he can't even speak French correctly, so in Jed's mind he pronounced it correctly.

It would be ironic if he got the French pronunciation correct but mangled the name of an American river. I can't speak to his French, but...

For sure Aaron Sorkin knows everything about the US Constitution and the actual practice of US governance, so isn't it annoying when Americans get British stuff wrong? "Her Royal Majesty" is a kind of tautology, and there's no way "his Lordship" would say that instead of "Her Majesty" or "Her Majesty the Queen".

Yes- they make the same mistake in the 1st season when Lionel Tribbey refers to the Queen the same way. They also don't quite get his titles all styles of address right. Lord John Marbury would be the younger son of a Duke or Marquess but again in the 1st season he refers to himself as the Hereditary (sic) Earl of Croy in which case he would be Lord Croy. Later on in this episode he describes himself as: John, Lord Marbury, Earl of Croy, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey. Of course this is totally out of order as the Marquessate is the senior title & he probably wouldn't even mention the Baronetcy as this is not a peerage (I think they probably meant it to be a Barony rather than a Baronetcy). As Marquess of Needham & Dolby he would probably be known as Lord Needham (or Lord Needham & Dolby but that would be rather unwieldy). They do kind of get the Marquessate correct in that John says his Great- Grandfather was a Viceroy of India & a Marquessate was the normal "reward" for this position (a rule observed more in the breach though). Assuming a straight line of progression he would probably be the 4th Marquess. Earl of Croy may have been an earlier title or granted with the Marquessate. So on the assumption the family name is Marbury he should probably be: John Marbury, Marquess of Needham & Dolby, Earl of Croy, Viscount Marbury, Baron Brycey (or perhaps Baron Marbury of Brycey & no Viscountcy) and referred to as Lord Needham. or John Marbury, Marquess of Needham & Dolby, Earl of Croy, Viscount (or Baron) Marbury, Baronet of Brycey and referred to as Lord Needham. If he was the oldest son of an oldest son he may have been styled at various times in his life as Lord Marbury (Oldest son of the oldest son of the Marquess ie. his Grandfather) and Lord Croy (oldest son of the Marquess ie. his father). Sorry - this reply kind of got away on me! :-)
