The project is not just a tower, its an entire new district that the city needs, there have been rumors that the public investment fund (governments investment authority) have bought a significant share of the project, and work should be resumed, there have been videos showing a new crew being assigned and work should resume this year, of course that was before the COVID-19 started, now who knows! in any case the tower will need 3-4 years to complete whenever work resumes, let alone the entire district, its gonna be a long time before we see those LEDs light up. what a magnificent seen it will be.

Dubai economy shifted from oil to tourism successfully but I don't see in a million years the same happening to Saudi Arabia, at least not with the current government. wages are 50k per annum compared to 5 to 6k in saudi arabia. labor cost is nearly 30% of anything you do in usa. 65k is the per-capita income and at least they have to meet 80% of that cost. And also land procurement, environmental rights that and this cost a fortune. like high speed rail in california which is costing nearly 100 million per mile same would cost at max 25 mil in china.

two reasons actually, Bin laden corp are the contractor for the mekkah mosque expansion, there was an accident there in 2015 that resulted in the death of 100+ people and 200+ injuries, that and the corruption campaign that took over prince walid (owns third of the project) and Bin laden corp (main contractor and owns 16% of project), these facts lead to the delay, its not about funding its about the contractor failing to build the tower. However the infrastructure work (which has been assigned to another contractor) is almost finished. the owner said that Bin laden has a deadline by 2021, in that time they can reassign the project to a new contractor, but even then it will take 3-4 years to complete.

I think this will built in 2024 because i saw this in google and I think the construction stops in lockdown of COVID 19. But I like this tower that beat burj khalifa for 828m only but kingdom tower is 1007m and the dubai creek tower that someone said that that tower will be built in 2021 and i think this stop building in lockdown too so i think this will not be in 2021. Dubai Creek tower was beated the kingdom tower, creek tower height is 1300m was the next tallest building in the world or i think this will be a longer construction tower until this is built. no. the building is still settling down, which is a normal process for 3 to 4 years. so i give them the benefit of the doubt! the rebuilding of world-trade center took more than 17 years and there was 2 years of soft opening. though first 5 years were about preparing stuff around it( bolstering it). this one did not have that problem as the plan was 1 mile truncated to 1 km and open ground unlike nyc city. And the soil is solid and the pileon is the most heaviest ever! so it is time to resume and complete it!

The Kingdom Holding who own the tower allow the contractor no more latter than 2020 to finish the project completely, according to the contract assigned or will be terminated. And another contractor will be announced.

Assuming anybody else wants to have it. It's awfully far from the rest of Jeddah and needs a lot of surrounding development to be feasible. Building a new city from scratch was the plan, but that's ludicrously expensive and not very profitable given how property prices are developing in the region. Without the district, the tower doesn't work, but it doesn't make financial sense to build the district. It follows that it will make even less financial sense to build the tower. If any tenants want to live or work in a really tall tower, Dubai is already struggling to fill up theirs and would happily take in new tenants.

You misinterpret the Hadith. It wasn't talking about skyscrapers. Bedouins that is barefooted (that lived in the desert unlike citizens) will leave the desert to start living in the cities and compete against the citizens (by building taller fences). The creek tower construction was halted to as the creek tower was built to surpass Jeddah tower so as long as Jeddah towers construction is stopped so will creek tower...But the buildings around the creek tower are still in construction and many towers are already done...(The place is open for tourists but not the creek tower)
