Why does this game run so bad but Fallen Order ran so well. Looked great and ran amazing. Did the graphics for Survivors get that much better? I cant tell that much.

@@DoogieNguyen its the optimization. When Fallen order was released EA didnt care about how it was going to perform so the dev team was able to maximise optimization and release a great product. With survivor EA was constantly on the devs ass to hurry the duck up, so the crunch was ungodly thus corners had to be cut and optimization was the one to suffer. In the end its still the same story. Its EAs leaderships fault.

Also for people that have 16gb of RAM on their desktop PCs/gaming laptops dont bother to play it and save some money to upgrade to 32gb, the game stutters a lot on Koboh (almost unplayable) probably because it needs more system ram for some streaming assets (at one point used around 15.5gb of ram)

@@kevinoso22 I used the potato pak, when I first tried the deck preset on the game when it basically first released, potato gave more performance and made the game actually look different(though it only actually worked after coruscant for some reason, and still does) Maybe I should try the deck preset now

@@kevinoso22 I have to use it now, on Jeddah, seems like potato pc or potato textures pak actually causes such a huge vram usage that the performance increase is lost due to excessive stuttering, and the game looks no different so something is definitely not right Even the deck preset pak uses more vram(again, currently on Jeddah, might be not an issue on other planets, besides koboh which worked perfectly) but it's not a big Increase and still increases performance compared(even affects the menu fps unlike potato pc if you put settings to highest and put them back again to lowest, it has a permanent 2% loss in fps due to the vram usage not going down, but that's probably since I also increased texture quality, and will probably go away by reloading the save from the menu, so a minor issue It sucks because Jeddah runs so well, and using the potato pc pak would increase fps even more

I had a strange bug with the latest patch on deck. If i changed settings it was like they were'nt applying at all. Even at ultra performance i was getting 20fps and the image quality was FAR too good to be FSR ultra performance. I fixed it by selecting reset visual settings to default and applying. Then i was able to change settings and it actually apply. Give it a go, but im now getting 30-40+ with balanced fsr on coruscant using the oled steam deck

This is not representative of my experience. I have it on low with FSR balanced at 720p and I’m on the 3.6 beta and the game holds a solid 30fps on all planets except Koboh, specifically around Ramblers Reach and the Fort where it drops to 27-28 but I am definitely not seeing the consistent drops under 25 you are. Away from the those 2 locations, other areas of Koboh are also a solid 30fps. Even the Forest Array is a 30fps and that tanked previously. I’ve put in a good 3 hours testing across a wide variety of the environments and this game is definitely playable, but 3.6 is probably the reason. It uses zram instead of a swap file and makes using cryo utils redundant.

Man I was really hoping the last gen version meant a playable experience on Steam Deck but I guess it's not that simple bringing those changes to the PC version. Super disappointing that the game has a PS4 and Xbox One version but still runs like this on the Deck. And as for future patches to further fix performance I think that's overly optimistic. Seriously doubt they'll do much more work if at all on the PC version

Works fine on my ally Z1 extreme 1080p performance low setting with AMFM on I set my VRAM on 6gb don't set the VRAM on 8gb or it will crash. Download it on gamepass so that if it plays shit I won't regret uninstalling it but luckily it plays great on my ally.

I recommend using may the performance be with you mod, with potato pak(steam deck preset might be better), with dlss enabler frame generation, in koboh, in forest array, im getting 100 fps at low settings, at 640x400(66 fps at ultra performance vs native 640x400 resolution without fsr), highest settings is still above 60 fps Also with all this it's probably not needed, but set fov to narrowest for more performance

@@Spencerwalker21 no idea why you think it's that bad, as long as you aren't locking fps(though for this game if you lock fps to anything you can't reach, it doesn't give input lag, even 60 locked and consistently reached has same input lag as less) you won't get really any input lag I've tested it at 30 and below and feel no difference in visual to regular base fps of the same value, or in input latency(frame generation has such a small increase in general, but it doesn't get worse at lower fps) But I haven't tested without frame generation, but I assume it's at least 50 fps, if it's reaching 92 - 100 with frame generation The only issue I noticed with frame generation, is ghosting on the lightsaber, at lower fps

I finished this game in Deck using Cryo Utilities to solve the VRAM issue and set 4gb uma buffer, with this settings makes more stable and 30 fps in the major part of the games except in certain areas where there's no reason for fps drop but there is like inside the ship

Huh, people posting videos were getting way better performance, even coruscant before patch 9 was getting at least 35 - 40 fps Your performance actually matches how the game first released with a few patches, back when cpu usage was still not being done right at all Edit: yeah, freddysgamingbenchmark for example is getting well above 30 fps at fsr performance, in koboh in the same area

try using steam deck fsr instead by forcing the game into 800x500 with the cog menu before starting the game and disabling any other upscaling. I get 30-37 everywhere in the game that way.

@@nisargjhatakia5844 just turning on fsr to quality gives a big boost to performance Though if your asking about why not using a lower resolution natively without fsr, I wouldn't know, Because native 640x400 without fsr, performance is 40% better than 800p ultra performance Even works well with Final fantasy 16, playable fps even without dlss frame generation, it's actually more than 40% improvement on that game, probably since it's GPU bound unlike Jedi survivor
