He literally just walked into the Roc-a-fella office without an appointment, and started rapping in front of random employees, like marketing people, secretaries, all of whom were visibly super uncomfortable and not sure why he was doing this. He might as well be rapping at the drive thru of the McDonalds and then complaining why Ronald McDonald won't come see him.

The truth is, they wanted to use Kanye to produce the hits for endless albums on the Roc, that would make them hundreds of millions of more dollars than Kanye putting them on only 1-2 albums. So they tried keeping him in a box as only a producer. But Ye too unstoppable to be contained. Very important life lessons show in this documentary.

The college dropout came out when I was struggling in college (as a junior/senior) and ended up shortly thereafter dropping out or taking a 10 year break. I remember really appreciating the album and listening to it often back in 2004 (and beyond). Pretty cool they’re sharing this footage now. Love a good origin story.

It's crazy that he could rap his heart out in front of people that you can just tell were just waiting for him to leave, and have it not faze him. Same thing happened when he went to Dame's crib and started playing his music; Dame listened at first and then left his own crib while Kanye was still playing his music. He had to have noticed what was happening but he didn't let it affect his determination. He had talent but his work ethic and determination is really what makes him great.

But it should also explain how he ended up linked to the Kardashian family. If you really look at it, alot of the men who (were) are connected to that family were almost orphan like and you can tell they were looking for FAMILY. (Kanye, Lamar, Scott...) I wish the best for Kanye. ❤

@@d.c.4706 In a sense, you're right that the men were all looking for a place to belong but I think for Kanye personally. You can see in the doc that he is trying to fit in where people dont want him. He's not the idea of what "hip hop " was back then and the doc made it apparent when they showed footage of him wearing Canadian clothes and random shirts it makes sense that he ended up with the Kardashians, they probably made him feel at home
