I’ve been driving mine since November in Italy including a 3260km trip to the UK and I must admit I’ve been very surprised with how the little Avenger performed. My only concern for me was trying to adjust to a manual gear box after years of driving an automatic, so I’ve traded my in for the new Avenger Summit Hybrid which is arriving in August, 6 speed dual clutch, paddle,s on the steering wheel with an extra 29hp and the little engine finally has a timing chain not that I think there’s a problem with the timing belt if serviced regularly with the correct oil. I’ll let you know how the Hybrid performs in September after a trip to Sardinia. Don’t think about it buy one, great little car. Roger

Great review Pete, I like the styling of this car. The one problem with all the Stellantis group cars is the design of that 1.2 litre engine, in that it has a wet belt oil pump, which can be troublesome or even catastrophic at higher mileages! So as a new car under warranty great, second hand with higher mileage is a risk. That aside it look a nice package from Jeep. 👍😎

It’s the timing belt. There has been a modification for this problem but there is still a timing belt, no timing chain, I don’t know where you get your information from. I’ve done 6200 kms in mine which I brought in November 2023. Very happy so far.

Nope, chain driven oil pump. Wet cambelt. But they've modified the belts in more recent engines so the problems only affect older Puretech engines. Hybrids now have chains.

Just ordered a Jeep Avenger Summit - petrol... I used to drive big naughty cars but with a lead right foot, I was risking stupidity & my licence, so down graded to a Toyota Aygo (mario kart - fun drive, but too light! And partner keeps reminding me, although Toyota, it's still a dinky engine, and I should push it like I do) Now going for the Jeep. Still got the 'mario kart' fun, but more practical for the longer drives, and I appreciate the extra weight (hopefully I won't be skipped over multiple lanes in high winds at NSL 😬). I still get to enjoy the EV G-Force in my partner's car, but for day to day moseying, Jeep has got my money purely for the fun factor and additional weight

I own a Jeep Compass 4x4, 2 Ltr diesel here in India nad I love the car for what it offers both on and off road. I may not be a hardcore mud plugger but it does the job well enough without compromisisng a lot of on road comfort. Was looking fwd to this. Looks and seems good but I strongly feel that a Jeep that dose'nt really go off road isnt a Jeep. Somewhere Jeep needs to draw a line between nice cars and a Jeep without compromising on what makes Jeep a Jeep in the first place. Hope Jeep does something about that coz I love Jeep for what it is - a Jeep.

Weird seeing a Jeep that we won't get in the USA... This is actually smaller than the Jeep Renegade that we do get. While many of Jeep's crossovers really divide enthusiasts here in the states, the truth is Jeep has figured out how to make all of their cars genuinely off-road capable. Sure, their smaller cars aren't as capable as a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee, but they really punch above their weight class.

Brilliant review as always & kinda makes you think if you don't want bags of performance but want good mpg in something that's not too big for the UK roads why on earth would you buy an electric SUV which are usually far too large & expensive. Just how many years of ownership would it take before you started to see any gains in going electric when factoring in the cost. With most electric SUVs costing 40k upwards that £15,000+ saving is an awful lot of petrol , probably 10 years worth for the average motorist before you see any gains.
