Not to take away from the presentation... just keep in mind that stuff you take for granted (bleeding the 'schroder' thingee and "keying it up" a couple times for leaks??) may be an obstacle for the newbee or clueless auto repair moron... like me. I just replaced mine on 1991 cherokee 4.0 for the second time I noticed that the plastic ring on the regulator was broken off some. I wonder if I tightened the bracket up too much. How tight should the screw be tightened so as to seat but not be too tight?

The symptoms include extended crank (engine floods while off, due to a ruptured diaphragm), rich running, or hesitation on acceleration are the most popular symptoms.

What can make the regulator go bad? Mine isn't leaking fuel but my engine is sporadically misfiring and while testing one day I removed the vacuum hose with the engine on and it made the jeep run 10x worse immediately

Hi Dylan, The regulator can get dried up from excessive alcohol content in the fuel, and it can rupture and leak internally, or the spring inside the regulator can get weak over time. By removing the vacuum hose from it while running, you've increased the fuel pressure, but you've also created a vacuum leak - changing the fuel mixture reading. This also will affect the MAP sensor reading. I would verify that you have correct fuel pressure, and also that there are no vacuum leaks present.

For '97+, that's true. This video shows an earlier model year with both a supply line and a return line, and the regulator at the rail. '97+ have a single fuel line to the rail, and the regulator sits directly on top of the fuel pump, at the top of the gas tank.

I ordered one from auto zone and it will not seat. It's a little longer from tip to tip. Mine is a 95. Where did you order yours from?

Maybe a stupid question but I figured I would ask. Would a exhaust leak from a cracked manifold affect fuel pressure and not having enough fuel pressure? I’m asking before I throw parts at the problem and end up heading in the wrong direction. Thanks!

Thomas Campos i don't believe so. The fuel pressure system is before entering the engine, and the exhaust system comes after the engine. But the exhaust system creates a specific back-pressure for the engine which will add a little more power and MPG to your ride. I have a 97' TJ Wrangler. I needed both an exhaust manifold and a fuel pressure regulator. When I installed the manifold it did nothing to help the regulators job. Soon I will be replacing the pressures regulator. I watched KZbin videos and did the manifold job myself.... saved me $1500 on a mechanic. Was only a $200 part. If you know what your doing/have help, it should take about 5 hours start to finish.
