When I installed mine, the fan motor on the right side of the radiator was re- clocked so the wiring was facing the battery so it would clear the bolts that use to hold the old clutch fan on. Ran all three fans on their own relay, fuse and switch. Only run the fan on the drivers side when a/c is on or in heavy traffic. Also running a Hayden 678 trans cooler after fluid goes through radiator to help trans stay at a safe temp.

That's a good idea. I don't have a trans temp gauge on this yet so I just have to guess that the integrated cooler is working. Overall it seems to run and drive pretty well for a bunch of unknown parts on pallets. 👍🏼

I was a GM/ Chrysler service manager for several years. I watched 5 videos this morning, seeing if I could find a simple way to tuck away the a/c wires and lines without removing everything to install an a/c by-pass pulley . I've've watched several online how-to videos, I wonder how many actual technicians watch these videos for sport and entertainment. TRQ is the only group I've seen with their shit together and actually know what they are doing. Good luck, DIY'ers trying to get your repairs and projects correct watching these videos.

@@RawTravis2112 it’s working great! I wired a second fan to the first one then wired both of them to my second battery with a switch. They still turn off and on automatically but I can also turn them on at will. Very handy when crawling off-road on a hot day!

I wish I lived in hot weather country!! I've seen a lot of rusty buildup inside a ton of 4.0 blocks. I always recommend that people with overheating problems find a good solution for flushing the block super well then work on the rest. I think these trucks are just abused over time. A lot of government agencies used these trucks is hot states without issues when they were new. I sure do love these XJ's 👍🏼

there is an easier way yes a new Radiator then add a second fan and a controller for less then $250 in 2022 i have made this conversion on a few XJs and this worked wonders also install a oil cooler for the Trans. WOW that will really helps the transmission in there things works well but it dose get HOT interesting video thank you

I’ll order this for my 2000 next week, my jeep was my moms who passed in 2012 n the jeep sat for the last 12 yrs besides a few trips on snowy days. I’m in the process right now replacing everything suspension , brakes, bearings, knuckles, leafs, shocks, rotors, calipers, bearing hubs, axles/seals, upgraded headlights, tail lights, headliner, center counsel support, door checks,pins, ev6 4 hole bosh injectors, and steering wise and tires 3” lift. I’m an Autobody tech/mechanic so paint n body work next. To an otherwise perfect body with just 1 rear rocker rust spot. My mom would be so happy, she lived this Jeep. My family has had jeeps since 78 Cherokee 79 j10. 00 xj , 04 grand, 08 grand, 15 Cherokee.

Cut a wood triangle and attach it to the bottom of your tripod.. Then put a weight or sandbag on the plywood triangle to keep that tripod steady and upright..

@@cuevaslegrand No. I checked their website about a month ago and didn't see any upgrades wiring kits. I would suggest just using the relay itself and buying a heavier gauge socket/pigtail and fuse holer online. They're pretty cheap on Amazon. The radiator is really nice, so just don't use the included wiring stuff.

Great video! I just finished doing this for my 99 XJ I feel like it’s to much work just to make it fit, there was a lot of cutting for me in my radiator support bracket. I like that clean finish oem look when I work on my cars. I would save a little more money and buy a better brand.

Love it. With all that wiring it may be worth having 2 relays and 2 temp switches. Relay 1 a single fan at 180 degrees and 2 fans on 200/205 switch. It would cut down on cycling, noise and save you amperage. Thanks for the super helpful vid

Previous owner installed this radiator on my Cherokee but with the stock fan set up. I believe it’s what’s causing mine to overheat with just the ac on at slow moving speeds because the stock fans can’t move enough air through a radiator this big and thicker

@@HFG It’s all good…your vid is well worth watching. Thank you. I just did an engine swap on a ‘91 Cherokee Laredo and I bought the same radiator upgrade you installed. I put in a 160° thermostat and bought a separate radiator hose in-line sensor (off at 170°, on at 185°) that I’ll use instead of drilling the housing and using the switch they provide. But I am concerned about the clearance issue as I have and use AC so I need the cooler installed. And I’m also concerned that the auto tranny lines may not match up. Guess I’ll find out just how easy this thing is to install…

That's good. It's a great radiator. It was a little work to install but well worth it. The thing holds rock solid temps even in the hottest weather.

Nothing noticable. If I had to guess I'd say it might be a wash between drag from the mechanical fan vs drag from the alternator to power the fans, but I haven't noticed any difference to be honest. It cools a lot better though.

Mine is still getting very hot . I replaced the messed up Head Gasket . I have tried 3 Relays ,none of them will kick the Fans on . I think that the sensor that came with the Radiator is shot. Do you remember the Part Number for a new Sensor???? The 30Amp Fuse blew too, it is all melted inside and the fuse holder for it is a lil Burned up inside. I will need a new one .

I have a Switch hooked up to turn the fans on and off. I might try driving it and turn the fans on when stopped I live in Baltimore City so do a lot of stop and go traffic . I am still wondering about using a lower tem T-STAT because of all of the Stop and go Traffic I drive in.Any input let me know .

Try a lower thermostat, flush the block and heater core with the radiator disconnected so it doesn't get flooded with junk. You might even have a bad water pump. Sometimes the impeller will disintegrate. As far as sensors go, I don't know what the part number is. I just bought whichever one the parts store had on hand for the Jeep.

@@sponcastpodcast Hey hey. That video is 5 months old, so I've had quite a bit of time with the radiator now. It's definitely worth the swap. Once the thermostat opens, that temp is exactly where it stays. I've had multiple 90+ degree days with the jeep idling for long periods of time and driving around. It's been great! In retrospect, I'd change the wiring more and add a relay for each individual fan instead of just one for all three.

The square drive plug in the side of the block for the "sensor" looks to be 3/8" so a ratchet or extension should work to remove that plug. Hind sight, right? God bless, stay well.

I'm doing the same swap but I need to remove the studs from the clutch fan pulley to replace them with shorter bolts. Any advice on how to remove those studs would be greatly appreciated

I had the same issue. You can just do what I did in the video and cut them. Or you can jam nut the stud, lock it with a pry bar and try to back the stud out without breaking it.

If it's not leaking from the cap then you might have a crack at the neck. Buying a new radiator is probably about the same price as getting yours fixed but you might want to ask a radiator shop. 👍🏼

For some reason mine might not be coming on .If I run a jumper wire from the switch to the Battery Neg ,it will come on ,but not turn off until I remove the jump wire from the Neg Batt . Also my OEM temp gauge stopped working and my radiator hoses are very hard .What is going ON??????

Sounds like you have a bad ground on the truck, or the switch isn't working. You can trigger the switch outside of the truck by using something that gets the switch above the "on" temp. Like a lighter or something. Just turn the ignition to the on position so the fans will kick on. Otherwise I'd say something is wired wrong, the switch is bad, or you have a bad ground somewhere

If they're on all of the time then just run a switch. Just don't forget to turn it on. One thing that I upgraded since is to put each fan on its own relay. You might consider doing that too.

I think your radiator is a little different than this one but if the size is close to the same then you could probably make it fit with some modifications. Measure your current radiator, height, width and length and compare it to one of these. Also how it mounts. I checked Alloyworks website for you and it doesn't list your year, but I guess it depends on if you want a stock, drop in replacement or if you don't mind a little customisation. 👍🏼👍🏼

Fans are battery source. Relay is key on power with an override switch in case I want them on or the temp switch fails. I thought I had that part in the video.
