Ehhh this job isn’t so bad with the header panel on. Last I remember all I did was remove the electric fan, shroud, and belt. Didn’t even touch the PS bracket, just where it mounted with the water pump. The inlet tubes are usually annoying if they’re rusted on.

It can be done fairly easily without removing the rsdiator. I always have a lot of trouble removing the trans coolant lines so I don't removevthe radiator.

Yes, trans lines suck. Luckily for me the Jeep was wrecked! haha

Hey man I'm getting mixed results on my searches for doing the water pump on the xj. Are you supposed to use RTV on both sides of the gasket or no RTV at all, or any type of sealant? It leaves me confused as to why some videos say you should use it, and then people say if you use the high temp RTV you'll be doing the job again. I just don't want to take everything apart and have to re-do it again because it leaks or something. Thanks for the video as always!
@ProjectDanH Жыл бұрын
I've done it this way for 20 years and never had 1 single drop leak. I think people try to "glue" on parts with RTV without properly cleaning and preparing their mating surfaces. Take your time and do it right and you wont have a problem

Hey Dan love your vids your help is appreciated.. I have 97 -4.0 zj. the cluster does not work.I replaced dash cluster , I checked out fuses . Not the problem. . Odometer does not turn when driving . Nothing works on my cluster . And security light stays on . I have no clue . Nor does anyone else .to what could be causing this problem. Do you please have any suggestions of a cure to this issue ??? Thanks Dan. You the man
@ProjectDanH3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about this one... Shot in the dark..have you tried replacing the headlight switch? If that dimmer is bad it can mess with your illumination lights.

Two possible things, 1. the fuse for the cluster may not be making good contact in the fuse holder. I had this problem with my multi function switch, All I did was twist the prongs on the fuse a little and its worked ok ish for about a year now. 2. the security system may not be completely disarmed. Try sticking the key in the drivers side door and turning it between lock and unlock about 3-5 times. Might even be a turn and hold for 3-5 seconds, not sure, been a while. A key fob will turn that off but I'll assume you don't have it. I couldn't lock my 98 ZJ without triggering the alarm when I went to unlock it. I was able to get around that by scouring the u pulls near me for a 96-98 ZJ with a key fob in it. When I found one, and it took a while, I bought the key fob AND the passenger front door lock/window switch. You need both because that's where they decided to put the keyless entry do dad. There's also a wire in the driver front door you can ground out and that works too but to me, it's a last resort. Hope some of this helps, good luck.

good video ! what a mess with the Dorman inlet tube - is the nut pressed/welded on to the tube ? May be overtightened a tad ? I painted and reused my inlet tube - works since then. I always try to keep the original parts in case they are not rotted out - always better quality.

Imma tell a quick story.....2000 jeep with the cracked tupy head and overheating like crazy, did a full engine rebuild...New Pistons, New Connecting rods, bearings, crank cut, etc..... After the new engine was put in, i put in a brand new water pump. Not exactly sure what model pump.. but since my engine was deck and washed, the surface of the water pump housing was sanded/was thinning after the deck and wash. BRAND NEW WATER PUMP was RUBBING, i repeat RUBBING on my 1st CYLINDER engine wall. Wondered for a week why the engine was still overheating after installing a brand new engine and a 3 row e fan setup.... moral of the story is... not every new part you buy will fit your jeep. Proceeded to buy a flowkooler water pump which has a much slimmer design of the fins on the pump. No more overheating!!! Jeep never goes over 195 now :) I was bashing my head agaisnt the wall when i realized!
