@@OutJeeping ok cool thanks! I think mine is about to go or is leaking bad. For awhile now, every time i start it in the morning, a pulley would squeak until it kinda warmed up and then went away. Yesterday it took alot longer for it to go away than usual. So i drove it to get groceries and run some errands. When i go to get back in it to drive home, it had a puddle under it. So when i got it home it was still coming out pretty good, what looked like to me was it was running down the front of the engine, and was dripping near the crank and oil pan. After talking to my dad and friend. We are pretty sure its the water pump. If you had to guess, would you say its the water pump also? Or could it be leaking right at the front of the oil pan?

If the bearing is going out in the alternator it will start leaking. There is a weep hole that is designed to leak when it goes bad. Otherwise it may be leaking from the water pump gasket.

I'm halfway through doing mine now & there were some steps that would help first timers, that you didn't show or explain: best way to flush the block without removing block plugs; how to keep that water pump pulley from turning when you get to the last bolt (TIP: I use a vise grip to hold it in such a way that the vise grip jams against the thermostat housing); how best to get proper tension on the belt. THAT is something that I struggle with & hoped to see here. BTW: no gasket maker on the gaskets? Why not? I see that you don't answer questions but I hope that my observations will get others thinking & posting.
@SpidrMonky-kx5ku5 жыл бұрын
Funny enough I'm literally about to replace mine also haha... but what do you mean by gasket maker?
@OutJeeping5 жыл бұрын
I answer what I can, but I get a bunch of comments a day I got to keep up with. You shouldn't need gasket maker for using a paper gasket. The paper gasket works fine on it's own as long as the surfaces are clean. I torqued down the water pump pulleys after I had the belt on to hold it. And for tightening the belt, I'm used to know where to tighten but usually it's when you get 1" of deflection.
