Did you wash the housing with the 50/50 purple/water also?? I hope my ground or wires are disconnected if not ya can’t hear the heat kick on… but we feel hot air that comes out sort of … lol I think it’s just heat off the motor venting in the jeep… I hope it’s just wiring don’t wanna cut on the Jeep unless we have to lol PO removed my ac unit :/ so I wonder if they may have pulled wires lose lol

Could be. Another source of the heat is the heater core which the radiator flows through into the heater box. Any decent degreaser will clean the plastic up really well. A good way to test the motor is to simply connect a wire from the positive post on the battery to the feed post on the motor in the engine bay below the battery tray. If it fires up then the motor is good. If not then you have a more complicated problem to fix.

That door on the inside of the heater box (as well as that flap that was tough to get out) are gone in my CJ. Any suggestion on where to find assemblies like that? I am looking everywhere...

Can't find them aftermarket. You'll need to track them down on FB marketplace or ebay. Or you could email me at dellis6914@gmail.com. I should have an extra set of all the internal workings. :)

Are Rock Auto and Quadratec what you call specialty type stores? If not, which are?
@coolguy_CJ73 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you want to find. Rock Auto is great for good selection on upkeep, rebuild and maintenance type pieces. Quadratec, Morris 4X4, and the rest of the lot are good for replacement items and may have things that you can't get at your local autoparts store. But if you want to stay OEM or find NOS, you'll have to find a good parts guy, like Ray Moulton.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to do this on my CJ-7. Mine sounds like the fan is probably rubbing on a mouse nest and I can smell old mouse pee when I turn on the heat. I've been hoping the smell would just go away but it's been a couple years and still smells just as bad.

Really, getting it out is the toughest part. Everything else is just cleaning and painting.

@y_CJ7 Mine's an '84 so I've been considering the Howell TBI and DUI upgrade. I may have to just plan on doing this at the same time. I've only been using mine while it's nice out so the heat doesn't get turned on much.

Did the motor work once put back together?

100%. Still running like new 2 years later. Not a lot of things that can go wrong with these basic electric motors. As long as all the wiring checks out and the brushings arent completey worn, you should be good.

Pulled mine today. Full of rats nest. Smh

Sounds par for the course. I have all the parts except for the heater core if you need anything replaced. Also, I can help with replacing the foam on the flaps. Let me know.

Make sure you drain as much radiator fluid out before you start moving it around.
