Jeep CompassMK /Jeep patriot MK74 ABS computer module and pump replacement removal how to

MK Jeep compass / MK74 Jeep patriot . How to remove ABS pump/ and possibly reflash at home. 2007 to 2017
So we had a Jeep liberty in the shop today and it had all of its Christmas tree of ABS brake lights on. Also In the video I checked the normal suspects, first. There are two places the wires just get corroded and brake on these all the time , so........ I highly recommend you check them first. You can also check your fuses even though they’re generally not bad. So in the video I show you how to remove the ABS module and replace it it could require re-flashing but replacing the module at home will save you a huge expense from replacing it at the repair shop . your brakes should work Normally after you bleed them manually till you can get it to a service shop. Your ABS will not work properly until it is reset you could try The battery cable hard reset procedure that I explained in the video but it does not always work.

I have had code C2116 on my 2008 Patriot for a year or two now. I was told by a few mechanics that it would likely be over a thousand dollars to replace it. Now I understand why after watching your video. I'm thinking about disconnecting the little light bulbs for the abs lights on the dash so at least I won't have to look at the lights anymore lol.

@mutakasata6752 No, unfortunately my Patriot was a money pit and constantly had problems. I sold it to a coworker and it still has the ABS issue when I sold it. It passed inspection like that where I live so I just let it stay like that rather than fixing it. Best of luck to you!

I wouldn't mess with the valve body and lines, and bleeding brakes. Just replace the module only . It is attached with four screws to the pump body. Drive it, clear the codes, and it will start to recognize it . Worked out great. On Ford's you have to reprogram 👍 good work on checking the electrical and wiring first. Following

i dont know if youll see this or not, but for threading in fine thread nuts, in any situation, you like it up and turn the nut/bolt/etc counter clockwise until you feel it click and seat itself in the threads itll typically line itself up at that point and you can thread it right in

im confused on one aspect. If i connect the new module before taking apart and fully installing if the new module is good and is in fact the problem will all of the abs related lights turn off ? or will they remain on until the unit is paired to the vehicle?

Hey guy; Good vid! If you have time i have question. My 2005 Dod Grand Caravan has had ABS light on for a few years. Don't ask bout inspections:))) I finally need to fix this. Cost of guessing mount up fffast. I sent to Garage to scan looking for a direction as I had checked sensors and (rings), with no visible issues. They said pump ABS would not power, no codes for sensors. I removed battery and checked for power to ends on Module. 12 v and good ground to both heavy wired connectors. Top 2 positive, lower 2 ground I did the ohm check on all sensors they checked ok. Also power to plus side on connectors close to each sensor. However i tried the connect sensor pins to meter and set to A/C spinning tire I get no current detected on any sensors. What I did not check while I had module plug off was pin 7 left side (holding the plug as it fits) is supposed to be powered as well. I'm thinking as it is smaller wire it gets signal from computer, Correct? I guess i need to get up and close to wiring diagram. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Best; Tom

Do you have to do that with a very high-level scanner. Or at the dealership.

I have no idea what that is really sorry. There are thousands of different scanners. Usually will require an OE level scanner. Snap on Matco OTC them types but I’m not sure you can also probably do it with a laptop

I believe it did but you also need to join the battery cables together as you flush it

Ok thanks I have had those 3 lights on for since I've owned car. Replaced all 4 speed sensors thinking that was issue. And first time to day had code low voltage to Abs pump. So have a feeling this might be the issue

Old 908p pro it was cooler when I first got it but still good nonetheless I paid like five grand for the damn thing But now I think you can get them really affordably. I still use it to this day. I’ve had it since 2018.

Well there is a starter relay below the drivers headlight. When you raise your hood you will look down and you will see a rectangular fuse box pull the cover off of the fuse box look at the bottom of it it will tell you what the relays that are in there are for One of them will say starter in the other one will probably say ABS it might be a good guess that your ABS lights have been on for a little while because more than likely the bottoms of the Relay are corroded off or the wires are broken because of corrosion because it sits down inside there it gets water splashed up into it and it breaks the connections or your starter just took a dump…. No course This is just a text message and I can’t say for certain but any compass owner and I don’t remember the other models that are just like the compass will have this problem that I described here or the wires are broken underneath the trim seal on the driver side “A”pillar kick panel. These are some very familiar places the commonly occur for things to break on them particular vehicles you could have a totally different issue like a bad battery or a security problem cars not neutral etc. etc. but they were the first places that I would look if you brought it to me

Yes, patriot and compass are built on the same platform … See it’s this thing called profits that manufacturers do they make more money when they use the same platform to produce millions of cars and then just put different tops on them so they look different but really they’re no different.
