Jeep Crankshaft Position Swnsor Replacement

Replacing 2005 wrangler 4.0 crank posistuon sensor.
2001-2006 Wrangler / TJ / LJ

Thanks for posting this!!! Not many videos showing 05’s and the sensor being on the passenger side. Will say, it’s a little more difficult doing this with out having a lift on the Jeep and having side steps in the way. Mine also had some wires running across where the 10 mm bolt was so that made it a bit harder to get to as well. Thanks again for posting!!!!

on the 5 speed transmissions they are on the drivers side, i am assuming you have a 6 speed.

to remove the connector you will have to squeeze the very back tab to get it over the tit on the sensor

I feel stupid asking this, but the only problem I am having is figuring out the little red locking tab on the connector. I really don't like breaking any kind of locking tab. So... On one side of the red tab it has a tiny slot with what looks like an even tinier point of a tab. Am I correct in assuming that the slotted side of the red tab has to be pushed upward into the connector to release it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

That's a piece of cake. Took me 4 hrs to change it in my 01 WJ Jeep. And I did cut a hole to get in to.

Mine gave me a check engine light blinking.. changed the spark ignition bar and changed sparkplugs.. still giving codes on cylinders 1-5 and the jeep is running like junk.. hope this helps after I change this out. 😲

2:10 probably just need to clean that up and put it back in! With the increase in parts costs, I think we will see more people doing this, especially on easy fixes.

I searched for awhile until I found your vid. 👍 I replaced my CPS but unfortunately, it didn’t fix my problem. Still crank, no start.

CPS is up with the oil pump drive in the engine bay this is the CKS (cam shafts vs crank shaft)

Fucking beautiful! Here I am reading all over the place it’s on the driver side above the downstream 02 near the exhaust manifold...I got down once on my back with my flashlight to look around and couldn’t see a damn thing...nor could I find the harness near the back of the engine? Bunch of idiots online man telling you it’s on the driver side. You are the man. Glad I found this video. Hard to find others with LJs who post videos.

Sir I have a question, very important. Can you tell me the colors of the wires going inside the connector starting from the left?? I ripped off my connector when I pulled the transmission by mistake. I really need this info and will appreciate it so much! I looked everywhere for diagrams and found nothing. Thanks in advance.

Hershfam I’m not the presenter of this video, but for me and my 05 Wrangler, the Jeep wasn’t starting but was cranking. Initially the engine cut out and was hard to restart. Then to get home I had to baby it. I thought I had clogged cats, but then thought it must be bad fuel pump. Luckily I searched a little before buying new fuel pump and thought this sensor may be my issue. For $23 and 15 minutes I thought I’d try this and at worst know I had anew crank sensor. Replaced it last night and the Jeep fired up and took on test drive and all is well. I did recheck codes before replacement and a crank sensor code was there.

They are not exactly the same! That replacement sensor is much bigger than the original stock one. I was wondering why it didn't click when you tried to fit them together. You have to get Mopar for these jobs, otherwise the cheap aftermarket items will cost you time and money. And you probably have the same issue with your Jeep.
