Dude you just saved me time. My drain was CLOGGED bad. I hosed both sides with cleaner and used a flathead. And blew it out with compressed air. Now the water just pours out the two drains. No more leaking. I went and put screening under the cowl vents so no more debris can get in. This really helped me!

I'm happy for you! Putting screens in was a good idea

If you already cleaned your ac drain and it seems to pour out a lot of fluid, this video is the very next step to use. Thanks man

Great video. I did this and my passenger side was packed full of so much stuff it looked like potting soil. Driver side looked show room new in comparison. I also sprayed flex seal in there on the pinch welds. The water from my ac drain tube was running back inside the fire wall so I sealed that off as well. Hopefully mine will be dry.

You have one of the only videos showing a water leak beside the heater core…ac drain etc people swear that’s the only options with a wj with the few I’ve had the antenna grommet was the issue for a passenger side water leak…some just have a clogged drain some have the water coming in because the drain dumps the water on the antenna

I had water pooling behind/under the cowl vent and coming inside through the cab filter vent, there is only one small seam hole to drain this water back out where the video shows, I punched 3 more holes so the one can’t clog up again.

I've been chasing this gremlin for weeks. This is the first video that has shown the outlet of the cowl drain, which I'm pretty sure is the problem.

Good, I hope it helps! Unfortunately, there is water coming in on my drivers side now! I haven't found where yet! Why does this happen to our Jeeps? 🎃

@@undeadbrosm41a39 The firewall seal deteriorates. Takes a while, but then it happens.

@@MightySapphire where is this seal? Is it rubber?

@@undeadbrosm41a39 WJ Service Manual Chapter 23 Body-Structural Adhesive Locations-Page 138 They use a structural adhesive where they do not weld. It's either leaking in the cowl plenum or the seam between the dash panel and the front floor pan. You can apply a sealant on the weather side of these seams to attempt to divert the water. Placing sealant on the interior side of the seams will not work. Since these seams are not welded my guess is that as years of water passes into the cowl, eventually these seams rust, create a hole, and that hole leaks. If your drain is clogged, it will leak more since the water pressure will increase. Mine only leaks in heavy rain.

@@MightySapphire I will see if I can find that in my Haynes Manuel. If I do I will post another video! Thank you.

Athough this is 2 years ago, thought I might add that if this isn't your problem those who read this then it may be your roof rack. I removed mine and half the bolts were rusted and corroded I had to buy new bolts and silicone the hell out of everything underneath and all around the outside of the rack. Could also be your sun roof if you have one.
