To prepare our Jeep Gladiator Rubicon for overland travel, we install a set of Ace Engineering Rock Sliders. We have used these in the past on our Wrangler and they can take a beating on the technical trails. We also installed our Warn VR10s winch, JCR Mole Panel, and Mountain Hatch Tailgate Table.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures This is most of us born before 1980, and, somehow, we didn't die. Probably from all of those childhood near death experiences, not being allowed in the house during the day, drinking water from the hose, etc.

I have the ACE rock sliders on our JLUR. I live close to their shop, so I had them install. There is a torque amount for the body bolts, I believe ACE has a recommended torque number that is slightly under the manufactures. I have heard horror stories about body bolts breaking during this process. The fact that you went after it with no extra care makes me believe you haven’t heard the same horror stories, lol. I actually bought new body bolts for ACE to install with their rock sliders. After seeing the torque needed to break them loose and remove them from their loctited home, no way was I reusing them. Good job, they look great and lucky you didn’t break a bolt! Kudos for that for sure.

I had these on my JLUR too and was super careful because of all the horror stories, haven’t heard if this is an issue on the JT. I’ll probably get the for my JT when it gets here.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures thank you for sharing your personal experience with the ones I have. You have me something to think about. The last thing I want is to do body damage to my JK, I know it will eventually happen on the trails or out Overlanding but at least I can be better prepared.

So. After seeing your comment and not being able to sleep…I decided to find this. Here’s some takeaways. 1- WHOA!?!?!? That thing is INCREDIBLE. I WANT that!!!!!! 2- We will never have it because it’s gotta weigh a million pounds and isn’t suitable really for the travel. 3- Matt has major DIY skills but he WILL NEVER be able to do anything of this caliber. 😂

So the mixed opinions of frame vs. body mounted rails is lengthy. The factory Rubicon rails offer some protection and also body mounted but these are more substantially mounted to the body compared to factory Rubicon rails correct? Never had issues with them on the JK being body mounted I assume?
@OzarkOverlandAdventures
@OzarkOverlandAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
I suppose technically they are frame mounted but bolt on at the body mounts. They are definitely not mounted to the body. I may have said that wrong.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures thanks! I saw that when I rewatched the video. For some reason my phone likes to cut out and I guess I missed it the first round. Looks really good with the factory bumper in my opinion. Question - what are your thoughts if any on the eco diesel gladiator? I’ve thought about it but don’t know anyone with experience using them off-roading. Figured someone you ride with may have one or you just have an opinion of diesels in general off road.

Why are you using your torque wrench as a breaker bar?
@OzarkOverlandAdventures
@OzarkOverlandAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Because it's longer than my breaker bar and ratchets. And it's a cheap harbor freight torque wrench so if it breaks they will give me a new one. lol

i've got the other 4 videos on the channel documenting what i've done to it. Is there ever really a final stage? LOL. The next stage is the bed rack (which comes today) and getting the tent on it and then figuring how to best manage all of our gear storage for trips.
