Addressing your radio predicament… consider relocating the MTX575 GMRS to up under the driver-side (Matt over at Ozark Overland Adventures has a decent install tutorial) which will facilitate your goal of a short antenna lead, then install the HAM radio in the glovebox. For a snorkel option, instead of cutting your hood for an external one, maybe consider that Rough Country has one that runs underneath the hood and replaces the passenger side cowling (Cara over at Ozark Overland Adventures runs one) that gives you options to just run as a cold-air intake or swap to the snorkel when you need it. Hope that helps with some ideas! 👍🏼

I use all the features but on my 22 rubicon gladiator for the past 3 months it has been getting stuck on some settings like sometimes all the lights flash/strobe like the light show for no reason, I’m just unlocking it, the third brake sometimes stays on and I have to disconnect the tazer and plug back in to make stop and reset, after a couple of days I have to reset the tazer since it’s just doesn’t have power, and my camera turn signal doesn’t work anymore, if I go thru the settings on the steering wheel when I can’t to change something it just freezes and I have to unplug and reset and the issue repeats, I feel it’s just the tazer that bad but customer support is like non existent

That's a great rig, only to become even better. With the Red Arc Brake Controller, I've found that mounting the control in the middle somewhere has proven to be beneficial for me. The reason is that if I have my hands full and need both hands on the wheel, the co-pilot can make the necessary adjustments. And, if I'm flying solo, I can still reach the controller quite easily and it doesn't get bumped. YMMV.

TRLDOC has my vote, but if you want a bit of humor, I submit the following: OW FIXR, BNDAID, or simply RESCUE In regards to the coffee maker, there are some companies out there that make popouts for the blank triangular space in the body panel behind the back doors. Usually I've seen Rotopax fuel cans put there, but I'll bet you could fit a small Nespresso machine in there instead. Wiring for power may be a headache, but you do have the gap between the bed and the cab.

@overlandready9 ай бұрын
Firstly, the two antennas are too close together you'll basically burn the input out on the other radio as it will be constantly getting high voltage to it's input circuits, it can't handle that for long. secondly, low antenna height is bad, get it as high as you can, so on the roof is good. I'd have not put the trailer brake controller on the outside of the driver's centreline, it needs to be more centre console where you can touch it when you need brake control or easily adjusted when required, I'd plug the hole you made and move it. Nice list, you ought to split that into necessary and wants, so prioritise the necessary and then play with the wants. Don't like the doors, and no mirrors is illegal here, you'd not be able to drive it in the UK like that.

A couple of suggestions for where to mount the main ham radio: I think you might consider locating the main transceiver unit itself somewhere in the area where you're going to remove the rear seats. It should be ventilated and possibly a fan added if it's going to be within an enclosure. Also, I think your idea on where to locate the detachable face is a good location.👍 I guess for sure you're going to have a VHF, UHF, (2 m, 70cm ), transceiver so you can access repeater's, but is the ham radio also going to have HF capabilities?... ...And be just one all in one radio... ...70cm, 2m, 160m - 10 m & 6m? If so, it will make a difference on DC current in regards to the wiring; IE: correct wire gauge to power the unit, how to design an enclosure, route coax and also where to install the antennas.
