Loved all my jeeps.. this 2006 (current) best ever, she’s a beauty- ouch on the fuel cost.. she’s so reliable on our Californian road trips and antique hunting 👍

Yes the fuel costs definitely are quite high aren’t they?! But yes I’ve always liked Jeeps. 😀 Glad you enjoy yours too. I bet they’re amazing on the Californian trips! Thanks for watching the video.

Overall a very good review, I was hoping to see under the car, something more about the suspension.

I've a mate that had one of these way back in the day which he had converted to run on LPG. If my memory serves it was a bit of a Heath Robinson conversion, but it was buttons to refuel it.

Great concise review. Considering one of these myself. So in your opinion, they age quite well?

Thanks for watching. Yes they do age well. They are a refined but robust vehicle and a pleasure to own.

Very helpful review, I’m eyeing an identical one with 115k miles… thanks for the in-depth look at the car. The more I hear about the WK, the more it appeals, but I’m unsure about the reliability of the 5.7L, and the whole package really - has it been reliable? The 4.0 and 4.7 WJs sound very long-lasting but I don’t hear much about the 5.7.

I owned the 4.7 WJ Grand Cherokee Limited for nearly 15 years, and in that time, it never let me down, it was a good smooth reliable engine with a sweet deep burble. It was only the blend doors on the heating ventilation system that got replaced. Still a very good looking vehicle and a proper 4WD.

Regarding the 5.7 Hemi, it is a good engine, but can suffer from an over heating problem if air gets trapped in the cooling system. If regularly serviced, and taken to a good Garage who knows about the Hemi engine, you will have endless enjoyment from it,

Overall the HEMI is arguably one of the most reliable American V8 engines ever made. However, there is a major caveat. Any HEMI engine made after 2004-2005 has what Chrysler calls MDS (multi-displacement system). This essentially turns off four of the engine's eight cylinders to improve fuel economy. This system only activates during low engine load situations such as under a cruise on the highway. However, because of this MDS system, there have been many cases of people who have allowed their HEMIs to idle significant periods of time and later ending up with the lifters failing and damaging the camshaft. I have personally seen this issue on one HEMI that came into my mechanic's shop and it is an expensive repair if caught early enough to save the engine. The long and the short of it is that you probably shouldn't spend a super long time idling your HEMI engine with MDS. Otherwise, this engine is insanely reliable. My Dad has a WK Limited with the 5.7 that is soon to cross over 220,000 miles. That engine barely has any oil leakage to be seen: just a tiny bit from the bellhousing area and seepage from the right valve cover. Everything else is BONE dry. I also have to say that the 4.7 is just a downright RELIABLE powerplant, too. It never was made with any MDS/AFM fuel saving technology so it is a simple, durable V8. My Dad previously had a WJ Grand Cherokee 4.7 that racked up almost 340k miles when he sold it in 2021! That thing was a joy to drive and sounded awesome. I personally own two 4.7s, one with 193k and the other in a Limited WJ with 232k miles. Great engines if taken care of; would stack one of these up against any other V8 any day so long as the oil change and coolant change history were good!

One question, what would be the price of this vehicle, if you can know?
@rolyswheels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video Jose. It depends on the age and mileage of the vehicle if I’m honest. It would be hard to say a price without seeing the vehicle. If you are referring to this vehicle in particular it would probably be between £6000-£8000 in the U.K. due to the low mileage for the age of the vehicle.
