Jeep jk A.C. vent knob fix

In this video I show how I fixed my a.c. knob. They are known to get stuck and the knob breaks off I hope I can prevent any damage to other jeep owners.

Hey! I just gave it all a try, the knob won’t stay onto defrost, i tried and it’ll turn back up halfway between the options. even if I hold it on defrost it won’t engage, any ideas?

Exactly what mine was doing. Cleaned it as you did but there’s still a ton of resistance getting into full defrost. Im gonna tear into again next weekend

Hi Raymond just wanted to suggest that maybe your cable is kinked . Check there is another U tuber showing this...

Anybody know what the specs of the screw that holds the plate on? I dropped it when i was trying to put it in, and it is now down in the bowels of the dash...

How did you get that black part out, I’v pulled on it several ways, any harder and I feel like it will just break??? Also how do you know how to line the 3 pins up so they’re in the correct position when putting the white selector plate on?

It has a clip detent at the top. May have to pry the clip in point. I just pulled at an angle.

@@MaxsAdventure. Thanks, worked perfectly. Also, for any other Jeep guys, my issue was not this this nor was it my cable. My knob itself was jammed in the control box, I fought with it forever and gave up and ordered a new cluster box. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Not sure if it's replaceable. You may be looking at an entirely new AC control head. They are very easy to replace. The cables have quick disconnects

Same thing happened to me, were you able to find a replacement knob or did you have to buy the whole assembly?

Bought the cheapest assembly but it did not have the rear defrost button. So I disassembled the unit to get at the knob. Found a utube vid on it. Got some plastic pry tools from harbor freight auto department to do the job. Whew
