Great video. Dam those C-clips come out easy when you don't have East coast rust on them....LOL.

Thanks! And yes they do! And the axles separate from the bearings with ease! Hahahaha

I love how you used the bolts to get the bearings off.

Yeah sometimes a little heat will help, or a press. I definitely got lucky with mine 😂🤙

Nice video well conveyed. I have done this many times on my JK. I have never take off the axle nut. I have seen others do this as well, I just do not understand that extra step. I also recommend ditching the spline hub bolts and replace them with any auto store brand as they will be hex head.
@jku392adventures Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yes I agree it's definitely an extra step, but I recommend removing the axle from the hub because it's easier to install the axle shafts into the carrier, that way you dont cut the inner axle seals when reinstalling. Because we all know those are not fun changing out 😂😂

Thanks for the video and your time. Why have the ball joint press if you're hammering the joints out? You say you like to use the press at the beginning of the video and show it laying under the jeep at the end. But I never see you using it. Did I miss it?
@jku392adventures Жыл бұрын
It was giving me all sorts of trouble trying to use. I've used them Before in the past and have had good luck, but using a little hammer force was just easier. The ball joint kit was a wore out one from AutoZone. Next time I do it I'll just buy a small press 😂😂

I typically use the press as well… worked well for me in the past… can be a bit of a bitch to line up, but works well… haven’t done it in the while; had a TJ back in the day… the kid just bought one for himself and need to do his! lol… that’s my project for today!!

Wouldn't be most cheaper and faster just to buy a whole knew axle shaft ?
@jku392adventures Жыл бұрын
😂😂😂😂 I mean true, but sometimes your on the side of a trail and you need to fix it
@codyrichardson2389 ай бұрын
Faster and easier yessir. Cheaper, not so much. Price dana axles and you will see. You could get a $100 axle assembly but it is not dana spicer.
