What was the cost installed?😊

I did it myself. Most shops will charge 3-4 hours for the labor to install. The currant aev snorkel is listed on their website as well as the syclone pre filter if thats something you want too Both parts are linked in the description Call Nathan Hamm at aev to hook you up on one. Just watched your video and great stuff! I do have to advise you to turn your Syclone so the slot is towards the rear of the vehicle or the 6 O'clock location. Those impellers eject the debris out of that slot. While driving airflow could make it harder to eject debris if not at 6 O'clock. When will you be making an AEV front bumper install video?

The horror, the horror, I’ll never cut into my gladiator like that. With some serious engineering a kit could’ve been developed to come out of the driver hood grater

I’ve done it to my tundra! Most all snorkels unfortunately are like that with the horrible drilling and cutting. Ever see how Toyota owners do the body mount frame cuts to fit bigger tires?!

Just a heads up. That glue will crack and won’t properly flex which will cause a possibility of water getting in. Which is why epoxy or silicone would be best since they can flex and won’t crack
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland Жыл бұрын
I used a generic silicone it flexes pretty good. I checked it yesterday when I got back from Moab. Still good. Time will tell. Honda bond is very flexible too. High heat resistance.

If you answered this in the video I am sorry for missing it. On AEV website they state "Jeep has issued TSB 18-003-23. AEV recommends this TSB be performed before the installation of AEV snorkel system" Did you have this done? If not, Do you see any issues by not doing it? Also how much does it affect your blindspot from your just the pillar? Thank you.........
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland 3 ай бұрын
Blind spot is not affected. They did a good job of having it on the right angle. The tsb I believe was a software reflash. I had mine done prior when I kept going into limp mode a year before the snorkel was put on. It was not burning def on the trip to Moab in 2022. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6SkdqR3iKx1hdE I would get the software updated first. Unless you are deleted, then I would just run it.

Was looking at getting this but i have some concerns...first, that cyclone junk looks like a gimmick and major restriction. No go for me. Second, could aev have not come up with a better way to seal the snorkel duct to the airbox? Lime something with a replaceable seal or gasket? Shouldnt have to get my caulk gun out every time i need to pull the airbox. Third, id look into some very light pressure check valves to put into the bottom of the airbox to drain water out but not let it in.....thoughts on all this?
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland 2 ай бұрын
Valid points. The syclone is by far the best feature. It works. I’ve ran it for years now with a very clean air filter. Other friends have ran it longer on different vehicles with same results. As far as the check valves, that sounds like a great idea. Obviously price point for aev they left that out. Would not be a bad idea to have something like that on the bottom of the airbox. I have not had issues with water collecting. You don’t have to separate the snorkel from the airbox to remove it. They will lift out together. I have not needed to pull my airbox since I installed it.

Curious why you're using an oiled filter with a diesel?
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland Жыл бұрын
No issues. I’m now using factory jeep filter it seals better. Back in June you could not get a jeep diesel air filter. My only option was k&n

Why make it water tight? If water gets sucked up through the precleaner with rain, how do you plan on it draining out from the box? That’s why those original small holes are in the bottom of the box in the first place.
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland Жыл бұрын
The suction is a lot. This is the setup I ran on my tundra for years without any issues. I see your point. The filter will prevent some water, as far as rain and snow / moisture the syclone pre filter blocks 99% of it. Drive it for 8 hours in hard rain and pulled the filter to inspect. There was some moisture but not a drop of water. If you had the snorkel top that came with the kit I can see it getting rain water in there.

have you had any warning lights appear on your dash? Or is everything running like it would from factory?
@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland Жыл бұрын
Zero warning lights. Over 2k miles no issues drives like it should. Unless aev says otherwise, as I know they are still monitoring the pre filter you should be good to go if you use the 9001R model as per the pre filter sy-clone company the 9001r is their fix for the diesel model.

@dangrec1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! For sy-clone 9001r, what size do we need? Your link says "3.5-inch-inlet-size" but when I get to the site I still have to choose a size, and the only one that matches is "3.5 inch base unit with inlet reducer adapter" Is that the one?

@WolfOverland
@WolfOverland Жыл бұрын
Good eye. Yes. I had a 1989 turbo 2 model. Bought it with a blown motor. Actually got the last Mazda reman motor (new rotors and housings) that Mazda had. It was in storage at a dealer in Connecticut. I believe I paid 2300 bucks for that motor 10 years ago.
