$150 to have it replaced VS $30, 1.5 hr of time and some patience with a touch of pride for doing it yourself. Thanks for the video !!

josez1 Hey man I appreciate it. Glad I could help. That’s why I made this video just to try to help some people out and save them some money. Thanks!

As Info: I watched another video where the fella took a few bolts off the eng. coolant bottle and then you are able to move it out of the way, made a large hole on the top to help route the belt back in.

Nice. I will definitely remember that because that was probably the hardest part. Thanks for the info.

Hello and thanks for watching! I hoped this vid would help others out. Thank you for the good words and there is nothing like a slobbery ball hitting you in the face when I'm trying to work on things but you gotta love dogs!

Thanks, was having trouble locating the idler pulley. Very helpful now I'll make the attempt at this very tight space. Also, beautiful shepard too

Thanks Robert I hope this helped out. I spent more time surveying what I needed to do than the actual replacement so I thought I would save some people some time on this by making this quick video. The dog always helps me work on stuff by being the support group....I wish she had thumbs though so I could put her to work! Thanks for watching!

The alternator pulley on mine sticks out to far to get the belt on it
@377GmanАй бұрын
Really? I was able to turn my belt sideways to make it thin and slide it past it.

@@377Gman found out my alternator was shot the clutch went bad and the pulley migrated out all the way, hence the belt was in shreds

When do you recommend changing these? I have 100k miles on my Patriot so far and think I’m hearing some noise coming from there
@377Gman3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ray, I’m sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I checked my serpentine belt regularly and when I start seeing cracking in the ribs that’s when I’d like to change it. Obviously there is no set mileage on that but I would think around 90,000 or possibly a little sooner. I love these modular engines. They have a timing chain and not a timing belt which is awesome! Thanks for watching!

@@377Gman ended being the wheel bearing hub assemblies making the noise lol
@377Gman3 жыл бұрын
So I have found out on these jeep patriots that I have to change out the rear wheel hub assemblies around every 70,000 miles. They are not hard to do but it is kind of a PIA! Was it the front or the rear? Thanks again!

Not the way to do it.

But it got done… If you have an easier way to do it, then I would love to know.
