I hope people are putting the rear brakes in service mode retracting the e-brake.

I believe there is a setting for brake service mode in the settings menu. Not sure if the car has to stay on while you have to do all the work but I've seen other videos that use it before working on rear stuff. Thanks fab for the video. Incredibly helpful!

There is a setting in the apps on the stereo for disengaging the emergency brakes, car does not need to be on. I put copper antiseize on between the rotor & hub, had to use a 4lb sledge to get the factory rotor off, & a $11 tool from napa made the brake valve go in uber easy.

When you were explaining about prepping the caliper, I had no idea what you were doing or why. Hopefully I can find another video that better explains that process.

Thanks for watching. I talked about prepping the caliber by rotation the piston inward. So the new pads will fit when installing.

Avisser. After you have done rear brakes once the procedure on this video will make more sense. The electric parking brake is different from most other vehicles (Honda also has same style brake). Dismantle one side at a time. Use the other side as reference for how brakes fit together.

He’s talking about the 13mm that you also have to hold the other side other wise it spins you skipped past that most just think the 13 alone will take it off you also need a 11/16 wrench on other side

@jonathanpolidura9936 Thanks. Replacing my brakes and rotors turned out to be pretty easy on the Renegade. I live in So. Cal so I don't have to deal with rust or grime which makes it even easier.

How did you say this is a 2016 model? If so it's the same as mine. I'm guessing you don't have the "service option" on the console?
@WickedFabz2 жыл бұрын
It is a 16. Didn’t look at the console.

@@WickedFabz So from what I've seen, you pretty much manually winded up thr actuators? Only asking as I need to do the pads and disc on my 2016 renegade and don't want to pay the crazy prices for taking it to a garage. The front ones were very easy to do.

It should or it will be very similar.

Basically broke the actuator on the caliper by not putting it into service mode.

When it didn’t break. Shall see next time.

@@WickedFabz That's lucky for you, the issue is you are showing other people a procedure who might not be so lucky. At $120 for each actuator I'd edit the video to show people the correct way to change rear brakes. Both actuators retract in about 20 seconds once the Jeep is put into brake service mode. Then you compress the piston with just about any pad spreader or caliper compressor. I'd say it's two minutes well spent.
