In this case my heater blower quit working so I started off replacing the blower switch then the blower resistor and then finally the blower motor. Both the resistor and motor went bad and your videos literally had every step I needed to take!! Hey hey. I know this was about 10 or so months ago when you replaced the resistor and motor. I wanted to know if this fixed your heat issue? Mine just went out here in Indianapolis. Turning my dial on the HVAC switch does nothing for the first three sections. It only blows cold air on the fourth Fan setting. Checked both A/C and heat and on the fourth and blows out both. I think(???) it is the resistor because I am getting both at the highest setting but I am very novice... What do you think? Also haven’t checked any fuses yet, but if it is blowing at the highest setting that should mean the fuse isn’t blown... or is the motors fan blowing cold and hot air. Lol, I’m confusing myself!
@KyleSVT4 жыл бұрын
I would start with the hvac switches first like the fan speed and the type of blowing selector switch then go to the resistor
@JarradShaw4 жыл бұрын
KyleSVT, ya know... I was afraid you’d say that. Easy replace, 70 bucks more to get. Ok. Thanks brother.
@nadeemsheikh11834 жыл бұрын
Mine has exact issue, it's an 02 and everything works on highest fan speed only. Was it the switch or did you have to do motor too?
@JarradShaw4 жыл бұрын
There is a flat resistor that fit between the glove box and the bottom of the dash. It helps provide power to the switch. I replaced that and my different heat settings work. It pretty simple to replace except the plastic of the dash that holds the bottom of the glove box is exactly where the resistor is.
@bxbomber245 жыл бұрын
What is it with the jeeps and their blower motor/resistor issues. I have replaced the resistor 3-4 times and the motor 2X. Mine is a 2006 TJ, so even newer than yours (and both are accessed from inside, making it a bit of a pain).
@joebezslu4 жыл бұрын
at least doing this work does not require moving the whole dash board. that is what was needed for a 1998 acura TL i had. 10 hours of labor was quoted by 2 mechanics so i just sold the car. all that just to get to a $50 fan.

AMC 6-cylinders are known for "lifter tick". Since the 4.0 is an evolution of those motors, it is susceptible to this as well. This is an oiling issue. Check the oil level first. If it is low, top it off. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to dig deeper to find out why oil isn't making it to the lifters/rockers. Could be clogged oil galley, clogged oil ports, etc. A good oiling system clean might cure this too. As a resident of Kenosha, I am very familiar with the AMC "lifter tick" :)
