I'm hoping this is the issue I'm having with wet passenger side floor during rain. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

Ive been scratching my head like a chimpanzee for a month now trying to figure out where that water was coming from. That drain was clogged up like a hoover dam. Really appreciate the video, thank you very much brother.

Wow, thank you for this video. My ‘05 TJ’s floor kept getting absolutely soaked after a heavy rainfall, even with the hardtop on. I followed these exact steps and sure enough, that drain was caked with pine needles, dirt and other crap. Chopped at it for probably a good half hour and just drilled it hard with a hose to clear it. No more flooded jeep! You’re a lifesaver

Worked perfectly today on my daughters 03 Sahara. Cleaned everything up and then water into the slot until it backed up - proving that there was sludge and crap down the drain pipe. I took a foot long shish ka bob skewer down there and wiggled and then more water and more air until WHOOOOOOOOSH!! Clean as a whistle and no water on the passenger side. Thanks. Take your time. Be prepared for some disgusting sludge and you’ll be good to go!! 🤘🏼

Just wanna say have a tj 2001 came from ohio had water on both floorboards..followed your video..excellent drain was 2 inches blocked.unclogged it..heavy rain no water..thanks again for the great tips and easy video...

Thanks for the video. I had a similar problem with my 2001 TJ and this evening took off the cowl and cleared a massive amount of dirt and pine needles that were clogging up the drain vent. I also needed to clean a lot of gunk out of the channels. The whole thing took about 30 minutes, and I'm happy with the results. The video showed me what to do step-by-step, so cheers for that.

Bought an LJ a month ago and watching this video made me want to open her up and so I did. Surprisingly it was very clean besides the trail of mud here and there. The only thing that bothers me is that the engineers didn’t understand erosion very well since there was chipped paint in the area leading to the drain hole. So, now I’m off to the store to try to work out some touch up before it rusts.

Good video thanks for posting. I have a leak on my 03 TJ when it rains. I never had a leak with the soft top I had , but when I went with a hard top ,now its leakville. Its coming from the drivers door at the top of the door where it meets the top. I wish I still had my soft top however it was stolen off my jeep. I hate leaks. Sorry to hear about your 8.8 dilemma , I'm sure you will find one soon. I agree on people listing parts , then selling them and not removing the listing.

Like he said my TJ also is different from that, but I was also smelling burning leaves while using my heater and what it was was that my blower motor was PACKED with leaves, yea I cleaned out the leaves in the past but never thought of my blower motor, so make sure to pull the blower out and clean that hole. I had soo much in there that after I was done, my airflow was awesome and no more burned leaves. Just like the narrator, I used a air compressor and also I used a vacuum to get them out.

Thank you for posting this video! Very informative!! I had some questions I hope you can help me with. In the video you refer to the 'cabin area intake' and 'intake filter'. When I took the cowl off, my Jeep didn't have the cover like yours. Is this part used on all models (mine is a 97 Wrangler Sahara 4.0L) and/or absolutely needed? Is there an actual filter element in the cover? If so, do you know the filter number? I can't believe how clogged the drain can get. I didn't have an air compressor so I used a strong stream of water from my hose. Omg - the leaves came out solid black in a clump!! It's functioning perfectly now thanks to your video. Thanks again, Jimi

I also have a '99 TJ and I wouldn't get water on the passenger floor pan with light rain, but with heavy rain it would flood. I thought it was a bad seal around the passenger door but a semi-clogged drain makes a lot more sense. I'm going to be taking that cowl off and cleaning the bejesus out of that area.

I've got a '97 XJ that just recently had a similar issue with over an inch of water on the passenger side floorboard after a lot of rain. Wondering if it's set up similar to where I can access it after removing the cover? I watched a nightmarish video of a guy cutting open his cowl to gain access to the fresh air intake. Mine is the first year of the "restyle" so maybe they redesigned it for '97?
@cvsahara8 ай бұрын
even if you cant get into the cowl, if you can find the drain hose emptying out, you can blow air up into it to clear the obstruction. guarantee the water in your floorboard is the blower box filling with water and leaking out.

@Always-There2 жыл бұрын
Hello, my 1997 TJ doesn't have the cowling over the intake, (the part that you removed before looking down in to the cabin inlet), so it looks like yours does, after you removed it. Is that correct would you know? BTW looks like someone at sometime tried to silicone around the top of it but can't see how that would seal anything? The 'floorpan' on passenger side is quite rusty, so seems it has been an ongoing issue from before I bought it in 2014. Cleared the drains tho - so thanks for that advice. Just wondering if there's a cowling missing? Cheers.

I like them a lot for ease of use. so easy to take on an off and super easy to bring with you when you want to go doorless. I doubt I will ever put my hard half doors back on. I am in the market for a set of full doors for winter with my hardtop though. They flap a lot with the hardtop on. I dont know that I would pay what the go for new. especially since I have half doors already. I bought mine used for $150. I would pay up to a couple hundred all day long.

Did your '99 TJ come with that plastic cover over your cabin intake or was that aftermarket? I just peaked under my '99 TJ cowl for the first time this year (I bought it new in '98) trying to find and plug any leaks and did not have one attached like yours. Now I'm wondering if the body shop that repaired my windshield, hardtop, and dash (awful experience) a few years ago didn't put it back in. Great idea using compressed air. I was thinking of using a vacuum or power washer to clear that drain, but if air works I'll use that instead. Great video and great shirt you're wearing.

The plastic cover on the outside at the 2:57 mark is an aftermarket cover. the plastic cover on the inside at the 6:17 mark is factory.

I have a 2014 wrangler, I’ve been hearing water running sounds from behind the radio, kinda like slow running water in a pipe, then a few days ago I had to slam my brakes on to avoid hitting a deer then my check engine light came on, so I check under the hood and my coolant reservoir is empty, and the code for the engine check was p0128 for a bad thermostat, lol I know this isn’t related, but since I watched I thought I would let the world know
