I feel like Joe and I have the same parts list on our JKs. All you said about how nice it drives is so true!! The speed bump noise took some getting used to but they are awesome! Hydro assist steering is a must if you have 40s also. Great video as usual!!

I’m running 37”S and stock steering with no problems I’m going to upgrade to Dana 60 full float soon, do I really need to upgrade the steering assist?

Not true about the stock air-box. It's tight but it 100% fits. I just did the full meal deal PSC XD2 install on mine including the massive PSC reservoir and had no issues installing the factory box. There's approximately 5mm of clearance between it and the new reservoir. Kick ass system; worth every penny.

Really interesting to hear the natural upgrade progression! Usually adding a bunch of un-sprung weight hurts handling but it makes it feel more stable.

@@AutoEdits The extra weight definitely makes it feel more stable on the Hwy. I also think having full float axles with lockout hubs helps with the performance. I have a 2014 JKU and even with the jump up to 40s with the 1tons I'm still seeing 14.9 mpg.

My choices where, white, red, black, or hyper green. My jeep was barely off the truck when they brought it out. The nicest part of it is that it came with 3.73s.

I have Swayloc on my jeep. its my favorite upgrade. Rides so much better on and off road. Its stiffer than the stock so you don't get as much body roll on roads when you lift your jeep.

The width makes sense. Your running 4.5” of backspacing, with 1.5” spacers, which really means you’ve got 3” of backspacing, and then 13.5” wide tires. Joes Jeep has 4.5” of backspacing with 12.5” wide tires. Even without your spacers your going to be like a half inch to an inch wider because of your tires being wider.

Joe’s Jeep is beautiful. I just don’t want to spend the cost of another new vehicle to get that capability. I started with a Sport, put in 2.5 lift kit, 35” tires, and did a Dana Spicer 44 with a different gear and locker. I also had to re-gear the rear, so I put in a locker. Welded in some trusses in both axles. Bumpers & lights, and a winch. Oh and Anti rock sway bars. I’m still under $10,000. So far, I’ve wheeled the Northeast, and haven’t had a major failure. The transfer case is wearing out, and I’m on the fence about replacement. This one is very much shift on the fly, and it lasted 110,000 miles being wheeled pretty hard. So no complaints. I like the Atlas upgrade, but it’s not shift on the fly for daily driving, and I’d have to screw around with axles. Or for $600 get a remanufactured unit and worry about it in another 110,000.

How much trimming did you have to do on your buddy's Wrangler on the Banks Ram Air box to fit around the PSC reservoir? Is it worth it and is the filter protected against mud and debris after you trimmed the box? Thanks and thanks for the videos.

The width difference is on the outer hub section of the D60s. Since the offset is so different on the two sets of wheels... they would be about identical 80" width if I didn't have wheel spacers on my Jeep!

PSC Overland kit would be best for you. I have it and its great. Upgrade to the Black Magic 17 inch Big Brake Kit or at least the brake pads. Let me tell you those brake pads are amazing!

Do you ever run into mud on your adventures ? In my area of this planet the trails are always a sloppy mess. I'm wondering if the milestar tires are a good mud tire for mud. I personally dislike a noisy tire, I daily drive mine but also wheel it pretty hard so I prefer a good tire for mud and pavement. BTW can I drop my jeep off at your house lol

A good mud tire and a good pavement tire are two completely different products. All about compromise. A better mud tire would be the Maxxis Razr but noticeably rougher on road. Patagonia is a great compromise tire for what I do most... best on highway and great in rocks and dirt... I don't have a bunch of mud experience with them. I hear East coast people whine about them online all the time but never from actual experience... just the typical "I heard from a guy they don't work in the mud."

Currently I run Falken Wildpeak MTs and they are decent for muddy terrain and decent on the road but they've been less than ideal when the temperature falls due to flat spots. Not a lot of Rocks around here so I suppose the search continues. Thanks for responding

It does but the stock master cylinder has a longer pedal stroke than I would prefer. We ordered the appropriate master but it's good enough to put a bunch of miles on before the swap.

Increased towing yes. Increased load in the vehicle, not really. The weight of the vehicle and increased braking increases the towing capacity

I'm not sure how much a dana 60 weights nut removing weight is almost always a good thing. Especially for mpg which I get it's a jeep lol, but ehh it's nice to have a few extra bucks after a trip.

Dang it!!!! Ok... just went out and did that. Joe's Jeep with the Dynatrac60 is 12" from the ground and my Jeep with the D44 is 12.5" Taking into account that my Jeep has 38" tires and a MUCH smaller ring gear... that 12" of ground clearance on the Dynatrac60 is just amazing! Can't believe I didn't do a whole segment on just that fact... thanks for reminding me and sorry for forgetting!

@@AutoEdits no worries, you covered a lot of other ground. Assuming tire sizes are real (I know that’s a real stretch), the 44 should have 1/2 inch more, so that means they do have very close to the same clearance. Very interesting.

personally I would like a bolt that is just a little longer on the axle side of the steering ram, it didn't look like it was engaging the nyloc part of the nut very much...good comparison vid though. I'm doing the other MC longarm on the front of mine soon, replacing the MC short/mid arms

Probably pretty good. I'd get some of those Metalcloak duro bump stops and that would be a cheap way to add a little cushion.

I don’t care for the sound of the bumpstops contacting either air or hydraulic bumps either. At least not on my daily driver/weekend wheeler. Maybe they’d be fine on a purpose built off-road rig. Look into the Metalcloak durospring bumpstops. I installed a set last summer and love them. No moving parts to wear or need maintenance yet they work great. I have a ProRock 44 under my JKU running 37’s with 6.2 LS and installed the smaller 1.5” assist ram and found its the best of both worlds for daily driving and off-roading. I don’t have that numb feeling and handles fantastic at speed. Mike

Your starting to learn the difference between ok and good. Not many people understand the dynamics of a rig and never experience just how good things can be. Learn terms like Ackerman, SAI/KPI, and scrub radius. From there you can move on to steering box torsion bars and the effects they have on steering. Let’s not forget toe. How to properly measure it and what numbers work. Same goes for.caster. You have a basic understanding by default of the two rigs. There is so much more that could be learned and applied.

just a really quick thing. i’d look at getting a longer bolt for the psc hydro assist on the axle side, it doesn’t look like it’s grabbing the nylon part of the nut to really lock it down. BUT OTHER THAN THAT GREAT VIDEO
