I have a 1965 Jeep Wagoner with 34k original miles that we use every year in Colorado. It can go just about anywhere 4x4 unless the switchbacks are too tight or rocks in road too high, as it has no lift. It's all original, save for belts, hoses, etc. Even down to the hubcaps. We call her the white snake, as she slithers up the mountains with the best of them.

@BrenGun1971 I just bought a 16 mm film of a Wagoneer Commercial from the late 60's, also in black in white. I hope to get it and convert it and upload it here in a week or two. So another lost Wagoneer commercial is found! :O)

@Foehammer54 Parts are out there. I believe that while Walcks and Kaiser Willys both carry primarily CJ parts they do have Kaiser era wagon and Wagoneer parts. Check out the International Full Size Jeeps Association...

I don't know, but I am curious as you. The 230 Tornado seems to be an engine that the Jeeping world has largely forgotten. I never hear about anyone using one in their project or resto. Hope that you get more feedback.

The Tornado (OHC230 and 181). Was a very popular engin in my country (Argentina) . It was used in almos vehicles produced by Kaiser and Jeep in this country, from 1964 to 1973 and next, the evolution called Torino, until 1981. You can find a lot of information an upgrades in argentinian sites.

I cant get over the fact that they offered IFS in 62. Jeep didnt do that again in a full size 4x4 until the 2005 Grand Cherokee! Not that Id ever buy a serious 4x4 with IFS, just cool how innovative it was.

i'm thinking of getting another old wagoneer (i have a 68 with a buick 350... 10 mpg) but am considering the 230 tornado version.. I read that they were relatively good on gas. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it's like to live with one of these? thank you

Good morning, I'm looking for everything about my 1988 Jeep Wagoneer Limited XJ with permanent all-wheel drive, from promotional videos to service information. I also look for suppliers of genuine spare parts and accessories or at least those that apply to that model. Can you help me, thank you, I am writing to you from Venezuela.

I have a Kaiser Wagon as well, but they are so hard to find parts for. It seems like unless it is AMC, you can forget about any of the parts stores.

@austinaubinoe The Wagoneer was a truly innovative vehicle in so many ways, lasting ways. Not to mention the overhead cam Tornado!

So was the 230 I-6 , it was loud from lack of oil to that overhead cam , underpowred and unreiiable . There were convertions to smallblock Chevys done to Jeeps that were new. They were massive , it had to be the largest head Iv ever seen in a passenger rig.
