you have to replace that silenode every time? idk the last time mine was changed i’m doing a fluid exchange next week

No need to change solenoid for every transmission fluid change. Change the solenoid only if there are shifting issues.

Also Indi. The 2001 grand cherokee 40. 6cyl WJ. bought new radiator lines and did not take note which trans line they connect back to. so my question is does the Long trans oil cooling line from the radiator connect back to the upper trans line and the short/bottom trans mission line with the bottom?
@DIYWithIndi3 жыл бұрын
I have to get under the Jeep to trace the lines. I could see the line from the top of the trans cooler has to be way longer. Does that match up with the length on to the top of the transmission? Or can it fit either one on the transmission side?

say it has never been changed, should i do it.? want to change gov sensor selenoid and filter. have codes for that. and would suggest mixing the old oil with the new. Have read the trans might slip beacuse it needs sludge to move. after all these years.

I would always suggest changing the transmission oil when you are putting a new solenoid and filter unless it was recently changed.

Indi, what do you mean by a skinny socket for that bolt. is ther a 1/2 skinny one. please let me know. help a girl out. thank you.
@DIYWithIndi3 жыл бұрын
I have a 1/2" socket that fits on to a 1/4" drive (uses an adapter from 1/4 to 3/8) and another 1/2" socket that fits a 3/8" ratchet. I used that skinnier 1/4" one for that one bolt. You can try with the 3/8 drive one but it may be a tight fit. Take a look at this - amzn.to/3h3vzaq.

Did u get any leaks from the drain plug yet?
@DIYWithIndi4 жыл бұрын
No leaks from the drain plug. But I had leaks from the gasket area for a week or so since the fluid level was a bit high.

and what size torx screw bit?
@DIYWithIndi3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is a T-27. I have a set similar to this - amzn.to/3DNeMlK. Pretty cheap to have this set handy.

no atv on gasket?
@DIYWithIndi3 жыл бұрын
You mean RTV? I avoid RTVs on transmission pan as it requires setting for a day before you can fill in the fluid etc. The gasket should be enough to hold leaks if the bolts are set correctly.
@ArodiCruz2 жыл бұрын
Seems like RTV is for the 45RFE and 545RFE only, the 42RE uses a gasket from factory and a new gasket is recommended

@@DIYWithIndi You do you but, you never reuse gaskets, ever, no if-ands-or buts. Second, from factory these transmission pans came RTV'd not using a gasket. Aftermarkets have them in the kits because people, in general, are lazy or for some reason or another do not trust the sealant for what it is literally for.

@@daduck87 did couple of tranny fluid/filter changes already not using rtv gasket maker. I have 2 bolts that don't tighten fully and small leak.... (by previous owner). I plan to do another filter/fluid change and will use gasket maker hopefully stopping leak... Did you use the RTV on both sides of gasket?
