Eurocompulsion Tuned Wrangler 2.0 on the dyno. I compare stock dyno results to the Euro+Drive and the Power Booster results, both are good tuning options from Eurocompulsion.

That's a good looking power curve for a Jeep. Tons of torque down in a day to day useable rpm range. Well done. I am kind of surprised to see a tuner offering a new ECU tune at a time when most shops are being frightened out of the market.

Thanks, good observation on the effort to get the power into a usable range for this type of vehicle. Regarding tuning, we have a very advanced dyno and a 5 gas analyzer. We take great pains to make sure our tune is as clean or better than factory and we retain all emission controls and their functions.

Shopping mall queen, - 7:28 great tag, thanks! - In my town there's a major repaving project going on, lots of asphalt "curbs" at intersections and people need to obey the conditions. What cracks me up is the most nancy vehicles I get stuck behind are rough rider jeeps and trucks who drive like they're in the wilderness fording boulder strewn creek beds while the Corolla zips away. Sorry, had to vent. #humor

It's interesting seeing the contrast on the topic of cars between knowledgeable enthusiasts (and I presume mechanic) like Greg, and guys like Scotty Kilmer. Scotty will tell you all day every day: run away from all small turbo'd engines, Ford Eco's, and modern Jeeps, BMW's and VW's in general. But Scotty's perspective is geared towards his audience which are mostly a) buying the vehicle at 100,000mi+ , and b) low income backyard mechanics, sharing his knowledge that directly translates into saving significant $ for guys like me. Scotty's work is gold, but he does have the bias of what he saw in his shop the most. So he'll tell you Dodge Caravans are crap, get a Sienna. And although the Sienna is a better van, his perspective is not adjusted for the sheer numbers of Caravans vs. Siennas. As a professional driver, I witnessed great durability with the 2nd generation Caravans with high mileage. Anyway, cool rigs Greg, I wish you well. Today is a good day for an oil change.

Turbos have many decades of proven service in sports cars, passenger cars, and long haul trucking. Small turbo engines are great, plenty of power and good fuel economy. I don't know what Scotty's issue is with them as I don't watch his videos. I can say that I have a Fiat 500L with 140k on it, most of that with way more than stock power and the engine is still like new inside.

That's an impressive amount of torque Greg. I've still got my 05 Jeep liberty with a 2.8L common rail diesel because 300+ ft-lbs of torque from a turbo four banger is just lovely to drive. I think there are a lot of reasons. First of all, we are the fastest, and have the time from a real drag strip to prove it. I also think our stuff is the most reliable, but of course that's difficult to quantify. I can't offer a comparison to each of those items you listed because it would take too long to type, but the price, reliability and performance of the EC powerbooster is ahead of the others and we drive Alfas everyday and answer the phone when you need help. Worked on a willies with a cj5 body on it. Rebuilt the carb on the og 4 cylinder motor, hilariously low hp motor but it would crawl up snowdrifts in low range. Guy wanted to swap the motor, did some research and was surprised everyone was going for v8s. This motor would be way better, lighter and more powerful if you could get the electronics to agree with the swap, would you be able to do that type of ecu programming? Could be a cool product, I haven't done much research on that specifically so I apologize if I'm off base. Ended up just keeping the motor and installing electric power steering as the original motor didn't have the juice to run the hydraulic system. Anyways, all the best.
@GregsAirplanesandAutomobiles

This motor is great for swaps, however I wouldn't want to try it with the stock ECU, it just ties into to many other things and won't be happy without all it's other ECU friends. A better idea would be to use something like SDSefi to control the motor with a swap.

I'm not sure what you mean by "unlocking". The power and torque gains come primarily from changes to manifold pressure, air fuel ratios, and ignition timing. There are secondary factors as well, but the primary ones give most of the gains.

I found a great deal on a low mile Ford Explorer, but it has the 2.3 turbo. I still worry about longevity of tiny engines (turbo or not), hauling heavy SUVs. Maybe I'm just too used to my GM 3800 supercharged cars turning ~1600 RPM at 70mph on the interstate and still pulling vacuum,. Granted, it's not a stretch to say the 3800 was one of the greatest engines of all time - though clearly dated now. I assume on long, heat soaked drives modern computers can adjust timing/etc on these small engines so fast that it doesn't risk superheating the valves, but I dunno. Maybe I'm officially old (or at least stuck in old school). The other aspect is, as impressive as the smaller forced induction engines are, they seem to have to work so hard that there is often no real gain in fuel economy vs SUVs from 15 years ago. I ultimately bought a Saab 9-7x 5.3i back when gas was $4 a gallon the last time because with a 300hp V8, it got the same gas mileage as similar sized/weight Japanese SUVs with much less powerful V6s. Sure there's a lot that goes into mpg, and just imagine if GM had adopted a 5 or 6 speed auto as early as almost everyone else.... but anyway.

@GregsAirplanesandAutomobiles
@GregsAirplanesandAutomobiles Жыл бұрын
It's more complicated than that. You could put a snorkel on this type of Jeep, however it would be pointless because there are many many things under the hood that would stop the engine dead if they were submerged in water so the snorkel if installed wouldn't do any good. The factory intake box takes in air from a point above most if not all of the other critical items.

my 2011 jeep sahara was an awful thing to drive, especially across country 4 times lol. the throttle response was the absolute worst. if i recall it was due to drive by wire type bull$hit where the throttle was sent electronically and not a physical connection. not really positive about the functionality of it. the engine was so weak, we had to unload some of our stuff from the trailer at one point! and it was a small uhaul. it was our 3rd jeep and the only one that i noticed the poor throttle response. hoping they dont use that crappy technology anymore because i would like to get another jeep. We got rid of the slow poke soon after the last cross country trip. i will say that when i added a K & N air system it was noticeably better as was the MPG. i know, i know ....people are gonna say those kits dont do anything but with our shitty jeep it sure did. from 13-14 mpg towing a trailer to 16-17mpg towing the same damn trailer so it sure did improve the jeeps performance.
