Jeep Wrangler 3.0L EcoDiesel blown away by Banks Derringer Tuner and PedalMonster throttle booster

Erick owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 3.0L EcoDiesel. He came to Banks looking to overcome the sluggishness of his 37" tires and the additional weight of his overlanding trailer. He installed a Derringer inline tuner, PedalMonster throttle sensitivity controller, and iDash SuperGauge. The Derringer adds a class-leading 57 hp / 79 lb-ft. The PedalMonster gets rid of his turbo lag, which is annoying in the EcoDiesel. His reaction says it all.

What did this system do for the 0-60 mph times? I know that’s not the only benchmark for performance I’m just curious more than anything. Nice ride BTW!

@@jonathanfreeman7761 it really woke up the diesel motor. not sure how much it increased my 0-60 times yet. I did however race another rubicon wrangler diesel and left him like he was standing still👍👍👍

To my understanding it’s a best practice to remove the any product before going to the dealer. This is product is not a tuner and doesn’t leave any kind of changes on your ecu. The dealership won’t know what you have been doing because no real changes are made to the vehicle. As of now I have only heard good things about it and have considered it myself for my 2020 JLUD, but have yet to pull the trigger.

How is the fuel economy? Does the Derringer improve it?

No. It manipulates the computer to add more fuel and air for increased HP and TQ. Its difficult to keep the derringer off level 6 and the PM off track mode.. 😁

Banks and SDI need to work together to engineer a solution to the OBDII connectivity for the shocks and Derringer + PM to work together. Assumed a splitter would work, that’s why Banks sells one, but after installing the SDI eClick Pro, Derringer is dead (FLT) on iDash and the iDash restarts constantly. I unplugged/bypassed it and now thankfully the PM works with the shocks. Definitely keeping the Shocks plugged in but without a solution I have a derringer paperweight. Banks/SDI, you are both in SoCal and hope you both will work to find a solution.

So what does this product do to the stress of the Engine, and it is Smog legal in California and does it change stupid emissions recalls that FCA did. I am curious as I have the same engine in a Grand Cherokee.

The Pedal Monster is a throttle sensitivity controller for gas and diesel vehicles. The Pedal Monster, in basic terms, it changes the pedal position in relation to the throttle to get rid of that mushy feel. Yes, it is emissions compliant (50 State Compliant CARB E.O. D-161-135, 141). No, it will not remove or change programming from the factory.

The Derringer is an inline tuner. It does not alter the truck’s ECM in any way, unlike a flash tuner that permanently alters the truck’s ECM. After removal its presence is undetectable.

The Derringer was designed to deliver power when you need it. It was not designed to increase fuel economy. Therefore, we do not advertise fuel economy gains. Fuel economy depends on many variables including how you drive.
