After viewing this video I decided to go with the GDE tune. I went for 22 MPG to 26 MPG on the freeway. 2” lift with 35’s. I am happy with the tune, thanks for posting this video.

I got the banks Derringer on mine, makes 57 hp and 73 ft lbs, 6 power levels, cali legal , easy install, leaves no trace it was ever installed if you need dealer service, and it costs under 900 bucks............... oh and I got 30.3 mpg driving light footed! And you can do it yourself so it's even cheaper. I love it! It's been out for years so they really know what their doing. They claim it's the safest tune on the market. Oh and a little extra is it uses waaay less def fluid. Got over 12k with no issues so far.

I wouldn't want to drive my Eco diesel Gladiator without the Banks tuner and the pedal monster. If anything, the pedal monster alone wakes up the system to a whole new level. Im a little disappointed in the stock engine performance though. Its so choked out for epa. I've bought 2 Dakotas, and a 17 Ram since 09. I get EP on Chrysler products. The Ram wasn't my jam since Im the Dakota type, nice to have a big ass truck sometimes, but for me personally, pain in the ass. Had it for 100 k mi though.. Didnt need a huge truck but can't pass up EP. Lol. The Gladiator is an absolute perfect truck for me seeing its basically a Dakota, with a Ram chassis with a jeep body.

I have owned a 1996 K2500 6.5 liter turbo Diesel, then a 2016 2500HD Duramax Diesel. I traded in the Silerado and bought a Diesel Gladiator. The Galdiator drives nice and gets good mileage as is comapred to the other trucks I have had.

XDP has a Methanol Injection kit for it. And,. I'd like to see differences when Cold air kit is added, free flow exaust, the one with DPF system removed. Would be interesting to see how much mileage and power could be made with those mods on this engine

Awesome performance. On my Ecodiesel I never go past 2500 rpm as it prefers to stay or move to taller gears quickly. I see you were getting close to 4000 rpm on a couple of occasions. I am curious - how does it affect warranty or if you have to take it to the dealer for any repairs down the road?

You'll love the GC hot tune. I have one on our 2015. I'm considering a diesel JL, but I wonder about the regen's. The difficult places a wrangler can go would not be ideal for the regen message to show up. Have you had any experiences with that? Thanks for the great videos.

I’ve loved your content, very informative. My wife and I just got our JLU Willy’s a few months ago that we ordered from jeep back in September of ‘21. We opted for the 3.6 l pentastar. However, I’m considering a diesel gladiator for myself as the JLU is my wife’s daily. What are your thoughts about getting this diesel at this time in our in our country/world, diesel prices, longevity of this particular FIAT Italian engine. I still like it 2.5 years in and diesel being $5+ a gallon. It’s more of a nice to have sort of thing, it really is a nice powertrain and fun to drive. It’s definitely not cheaper to buy/own/maintain but if you want cheap then a wrangler is probably not your go to 🤣

I’ll stick with my Banks Derringer and pedal monster. Zero flashing required, unplug it and it leaves no evidence it was ever there. 78 more horsepower, 108 lb ft of torque. My eco diesel is a sports car on tune level 6.

With the Derringer You’re fuel mileage WILL be lower. Period. It’s adding more fuel and boost (air) by “fooling” the ecu. Anyone that says they get so much better fuel economy is lying to themselves. It’s a piggy back. It’s literally designed to dump extra fuel while increasing boost output.

There is a KZbin channel OFFRD who is really down on the transmission tuning from green diesel . Can you speak to the transmission tuning. Low speed converter lock up in the morning start condition. 1st and 2nd gears really Herky-jerky.

It holds low gears longer when it’s cold but that’s so it will warm up ASAP. the faster it gets to operating temp the quicker it will get to clean burning meaning less soot. Less soot is better for emission system longevity and means less regen which means better fuel economy. I only notice it for the first stoplight or two in the morning - literally two minutes. It’s not bad to me but it annoyed me I would put up with it for the other benefits of the tune. Once the jeep is warm I literally notice nothing bad about it.

This is amzing. I was looking for something like this. I do feel like my ecodiesel Jeep Gladiator is a little underpower. Would love to do this tune to mine. How about replacing exhaust to something more open, bigger? Air-Intake? Would any thing like that help? Also, how about DEF delete? would that help it a bit and if yes, would it black smoke and would it not be legal to drive at that point? And probably void the warranty?

For how little this takes to do just do it. I was big on exhaust and delete and whatever then we got this and then got it tuned. It’s quick, great mileage, sips DEF hardly ever regens and best of all IT DOESNT SMELL. I love diesel smell just as much as the next guy but there’s a place for it… when I’m running the dozer on Saturday or moving logs with my pickup. Not when I take the family out to a restaurant 😜

It is NOT deleted - emissions compliant tune. Still uses DEF and all. Warranty - you're on track with that. just get a new ECU as a clone with the flash and swap out if you have to take it to the dealer.

Personally I think the full calibration you get with the GDE tune is superior. From what I understand the Banks is more of a 'fooler' where they mask signals like fuel pressure and boost pressure to give you more power. The GDE tune is a complete recalibration that can give you more fuel, air, change things like timing, etc. This will give you the best POWER and DRIVABILITY where the other will just give you max power (but still less than the GDE tune :)). Not to mention GDE can give you things like regen messages, an exhaust brake, etc. Also you don't need that ugly pod on your dash. If you have any questions call them up! It's a great shop over there and they would love to help you.

I think it would be hard for the dealer to catch you if you made sure to flash the ECU before you took it in. OR just get a clone ECU, the guys there can help you. I would TOTALLY do it again, in a heartbeat. The Jeep just riiiiips now and gets a little fuel mileage, regens less, there is no drawback in my mind.

Fuel economy is maybe slightly better. I have averaged 28-28.5 the last few tanks this summer and it’s hard to recall but we would maybe average 27 before that.

Yes. Flashing a customs tune over the factory will void warranty. The 1st thing they do at most Jeep dealerships is plugg into the ODB and get a reading. If I recall, even if you were to flash back to stock prior to service, there would be a record of a change.

My dealer told me it will void the warranty and even if you flash it back to factory specs they can tell if it was tuned/modified at any time in the past. With the issues I've had with my JTRD I could not think about doing something to void my 8 year warranty

You can flash a second ECU if you’re concerned about this and swap it back to stock without have a flash count be off. The trans would still read as flashed but the 8HP75 is bulletproof.

We’ve never had issues with it, can’t speak to the tune really because it’s been like an average of 20 degrees since we got it done🤣 I would think that the tune will have no impact on the oil and coolant temps, however.

@@TheZombieslider it’s interesting as the ‘22 Ram Ecodiesel is rated at 480 lb ft. They knew there was room there but left the Wrangler detuned, probably due to cooling issues over anything.

I'd be cool if you switched on the gear display in the dash, so you could see what gear it was in when you were talking about the tran tune @ 15:00 mark. What was going on with the road when you were at 70ish an it was showing 40mpg? in my stock 2021 JLURD, from Freeland, MI to Baltimore MD I get about 29MPG for the trip. So I'm really interested in the MPG gains.

I wouldn’t get the diesel unless you get a rubicon. Not sure what axles come under any other trim. I tried out a Willy’s diesel and forgot to look if it still had a 30 and 35 axle.don’t want those with all that torque. Get the 44s

Jeep claims 265/442 to the ground. Taking parasitic loss into consideration, an auto trans loses 15-20% power through the drivetrain. That explains how it loses 40 horsepower and 50 torque when it hits the tires. To make 265/470 at the wheels, it’s probably closer to 300/520 at the crank. Nowhere near stock numbers.

Reach out to the guys at GDE, they were going to get a bunch of blank ECUs so they could flash one and send it to you. They might be able to do that now. That way you could just have two - one with the tune and the stock one.

We did, I don't have firsthand experience but I was not a big fan of the 'fooler' type tune. Yes there is risk to this in the warranty forfeit but I would rather have the ECU tuned for everything it controls rather than have a piggyback put on that only controls fuel pressure.

Banks doesn’t make a tune, they make a piggyback that tricks the computer. It only adds boost, fuel pressure and timing. Does nothing with how the pcm reacts in any other way including the transmission.

Exactly why void warranty ?when u can get banks derringer +57hp plug and play and if needed to visit dealer just unplug and it leaves no trace

Not even close. GDE is a widely known, reputable company that actually pumps a ton of time and money into an R&D cycle to develop their OWN safe, performance tunes.
