Jeep Wrangler clutch throwout bearing

Great Video! Have an 89 Wrangler- AX-15 Trannsmission- Hearing what I think is the throw out bearing making noise when shifting- light grinding when depress the pedal and coming out of thge shift. I have owned this jeep for thirty years- had the trans out three times. Stupid desin with the internal slave cylinder and bearing together. Going to buy a good heavy duty clutch kit from Rock Auto but will upgrade the Realease bearing to a National bearing unit after this video! I read some of the same things about low quality bearings in kits. Might even go with the Advance Adapters external slave cylinder conversion kit so I dont have to go through this again.

Thanks for watching, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I agree, those slave cylinder/throwout bearing combos can be a real pain if the slave cylinder is all that's bad! It makes it way too much work to fix such a simple issue, lol

Thank Sir. I'm French and own a TJ 4.0L 1998. 50000 miles. I'm looking about videos showing how to replace the clutch. Mine has an issue : when the engine is "cold", I mean for the first 15 miles, when I release the clutch pedal, there are some vibrations as the engine is shaking so it's unpleasant when I start to move from a stop. There is no noise (even a little one) when I engage or release the clutch pedal being in Neutral, and the clutch itself seems to work well as it doesn't slide and it's strong even in 4 Low gears. No fluid leak also. After some miles, this issue decreases. All the 5 gears work well also and there is no noise on the roads or highways. So, with your experience, maybe you have an idea. My solution would be to replace the 2 discs clutch/bearing/....I mean the complete mecanism. To be continued.....🙂

The old one u took out is flat in both sodes but the new one is flat in one side & on the other side has two U shape indentation.That will fit or makes a difference? My 97 jeep wrangler 4.0 has one like the new one u have.So I bought a new one today with the same part # u got but is flat in both sides like the one u just throw away.Idk if that one gonna fit or need to have the 2 U shape cut. Please let me know,thank u!

I had to go back to watch it again. It seems as if you're talking about the housing on the back side of the release bearing assembly? That's the only part I saw that was different. If that's what you're asking about, I don't think it makes any difference at all, so you should be okay with the one you bought. Good luck with your project!

There is a clutch fork spring clip that holds the fork to the round ball in the bell housing

That would make sense. I just looked at an exploded view of the components, and it does show it there, but it was nowhere to be found when I took it out. Maybe the previous mechanic left it out? Who knows. Seems to work fine without it. If it does fail, my brother-in-law knows a goofball with a KZbin channel that can fix it....again 😄

Just did a clutch , flywheel, bearing , fork etc swap out on my 97 wrangler on the garage floor . Envious of the lift 😂

@@TorquePowerVideo IT WILL FOR SURE. 99 TJ has a horrible shake from 20-30. Clicking when clutch is slightly released. As well as a few other noises.
