I've been running this kit on my 2015 jk for about 5k miles, 3.73 gears and 35s. Seems to perform well, no issues with squeeling. I can't compare braking performance because i did the brakes and lift at the same time.

Nice job Sarah, good pointing out the direction the tab brackets fit in, I rarely see people point out that little detail and it's useful to know for anyone who hasn't done it before. I have these brakes and I've been really happy with them on 35's. They don't see too much offroad time in my case, but they help me stop quickly and smoothly in traffic on those heavy wheels at a pretty good price.

Nothing about the Parking Brake? I always replace the shoes inside the rear drums, along with new hardware. If you’re going to replace your brakes do the complete job, along with rear shoes and brake fluid flush.

Great install video-very helpful.

The only thing that this video is missing is the most important part. When she demonstrated the first install she should have talked about the actual torque specs for front. And also the install for the back. She hand tightened those bolts. So if some one was doing this the first time and just following what she does in the video, that is a serious safety issue. This is very negligent of extreme terrain to supply this video with not talking about cleaning the rotors first, and torque specs and other things you should do during removal and install of brakes.

Careful with the caliper grease that's on your gloves while you're handling the brake pads. The last thing you want to do is get grease on the braking surface of the pads!

PAY ATTENTION TO THE CLIP ORIENTATION PART! I screwed around with the clips for an hour before I realized they are directional.

I wonder what happens when you get sand in those drilled holes!
@raldogtm

Alpha Artisan or if you do a lot of mud wheeling and it gets inside the slots and drilled holes. I bet it prematurely wears out the pads.

For mainly on-road driving, these new rotors and pads will perform better than stock without a doubt. If you do A LOT of mudding, play in the sand every other weekend, or are constantly on dirt and gravel roads, drilled and slotted rotors aren't going to be the best option because of those holes. That being said, as long as you wash out your brakes really well after being off-road you won't run into issues. -Zach

Will I need to have emergency brake off when doing back wheels? Also, don’t I need to take off brake fluid cap when compressing the piston?
@mattn318
@mattn318 4 жыл бұрын
Leave the brake fluid cap on. Compress the piston with a C clamp or brake pad spreader

Be careful doing this yourself. This job isnt as easy as it looks. Just installed one front driver side and I wanted to test it out. Brake is grinding. Now I need to look at the hardware clips and see how exactly I messed it up. Most videos on KZbin don't show that. Very frustrated.

Did you go through the proper burn-in procedure immediately after install? These pads grab and grind like hell until you've done the burn-in procedure. Then they become smooth as butter.

@@kirkdarling4120 Yes sir I did after all 4 were installed. What struck me as odd was it was only the front driver's side that was still grinding and making weird noise even after the bedding process.

@@jakealcazar3805 I wonder if your system is breaking even all around. I could diagnose that back in the old days, but not so much with modern ABS.

Are these pads and rotors better thatn stock? I added some steele bumpers, winch, lift, wheels and tires (285/75/17) and would like better stopping power. Not sure if I should go full boat and get new calipers too or is this kit enough? I am not towing.
@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 4 жыл бұрын
These pads and rotors will *definitely* be an upgrade over stock! PowerStop notes that these guys will provide 20% more stopping power with the combination of ceramic pads and the drilled rotors. As for calipers, that's going to come down to your personal preference. If your stock calipers are in good shape, these will be a nice upgrade for you. If your stock calipers are starting to stick or need replaced, looking into a performance replacement is a good idea. -Zach

Very disappointed with this kit. I followed the brake in directions exactly and these just won't grip well. Braking is slow and gradual and I don't think I could get stopped fast enough in an emergency situation. We went back and flushed the brake system to see if new fluid would help, and it didnt.

I put this kit on my JK. At first they were great. Then the left front developed a nasty groove and made a squeal like an animal in pain ever right turn. Powerstop will only warranty if they are cracked. I would never buy this kit again or would I recommend it. It’s been on less than 6 months and maybe 3k miles. Junk
