Improved Clearance. If you want to add some lift to your YJ, plus refresh many of the suspension components, you can do all that with this Rough Country 2.5" Lift Kit with Shocks. With this kit, your Jeep will be leveled out as well as lifted, so it looks and rides great. You’ll enjoy good handling both on and off the road with this kit, including excellent articulation of the suspension for trail obstacles. Also, this setup is fairly stiff, so you’ll notice significantly less body roll. This lift kit will work for any 1987 to 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ.
Complete Solution. You get everything necessary to lift your YJ safely and reliably with this kit. Among the included items are new lift leaf springs, Rough Country N2.0 nitrogen shocks that match the taller ride height, plus an array of necessary hardware. Just remember that the nitrogen-charged shocks prevent any foaming, bubbling, or cavitation of any fluid, so you can work these shocks hard over a long period of time and not have problems with fading.
Straightforward to Put On. Like most lift kits, this is fairly involved to put on your Jeep. If you don’t have experience with suspensions, you should get help from someone who does, or take your Jeep to a shop. Plan on the process taking between 3 and 4 hours. Fortunately, the installation is bolt-on only, so no drilling, cutting, or welding is necessary.

I don't know what the fight could've been, I installed this in my 94 YJ , it was a piece of cake. Removed track bar then did one spring at a time, front then rear. You can use a come- o- long or a ratchet strap to help line up spring center pin bolts. My Jeep is very very rust free, but I still gave everything a shot of 'PB Blaster' about a week in advance.

Any need for shims with this kit? Asking because I just bought 93 YJ w this kit and it has shims on the rear, but not in front. PO didn't adjust drag link after and I;m thinking he may not have had a 4 wheel alignment done either. Just looking for anything else that may be wrong and causing squirrelly steering when letting off the gas or accelerating hard before I take it in for the alignment.

@@Future-Preps35 thanks! I asked some of my keeping buddies and they said that only going 2.5 shouldn't cause much vibrating, and I'm also mainly on the road, with occasional offroad.. but I've caught up on projects except my lift

I have this exact kit on my ‘90 YJ with 33 x 12.5 Mickey Thompson mud terrains. I’ve gone through a few tweaks. First, freshly installed lift kit with all new bushings, shocks, etc. it felt like my spinal column was going to explode out of my body with every bump I encountered. Hated the ride and was super bummed. It softened up a little after about 1,000 miles. Second, I removed the track bars from front and rear. Holy shit. 70% better ride. No handling issues. Third, I just installed 1” greasable lift shackles with rear boomerangs. Also upgraded the shocks to Bilstein 5000 shocks. I’ve only installed the fronts so far and will do the rears this week. Tire rubbing, with just the 2.5” lift kit alone I only have rubbing issues near full lock when turning. The tires rub on the leaf spring. The remedy is to adjust the steering stops on the knuckles by adding shims as needed which I’ll do after the shock and shackle install. This is all I can do to make the ride as smooth as possible. Oh yeah, I also got a Corbeau Baja XLS suspension seat which also helped. Super comfy. Lose the track bars everyone. YJ’s with leaf springs do not need them. CJs do not have them. They are a nightmare. I wish I knew that before I spent hours changing the track bar bushings when I did the lift. I had to burn those fuckers out with a torch and used a ball joint remover to press them out. Now they’re junk as far as I’m concerned.

Probably not but it’s not a bad idea if you plan on taking you track bars and anti sway bars off so you can take advantage of all your potential wheel travel. If I was to buy this I would also buy a 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch shackles,yse,new drive shaft and a high clearance belly pan.

What size tires are on the Jeep in the video?

The tires shown on video are stock size, so right around 29" tall. With a 2.5 in lift you can expect to fit 31s no problem! -Zach

At 2.5 inches of lift you shouldn't have issues with drive-line vibrations, honestly. But if you do feel vibrations starting, getting a transfer-case drop can be a good fix. For larger lift applications, a slip-yolk eliminator kit and new rear drive shaft would be best. But if you plan on sticking with 2.5 in. I wouldn't worry too much about it. -Zach

You can add one, but it's not necessary with this lift.

From what I've researched (I plan on putting this kit on my yj once I get the necessary welding done first) No it doesn't... However if after installing you notice some drivetrain vibration that transfer case drop is easy to do... Lol I have a buddy who used 4 hockey pucks with holes drilled in instead of buying the $50 kit which is essentially 2 lengths of box iron with holes in that line up with the existing mounting holes in order to drop it 1"
