problem in this country is finding 95+ fuel if touring the outback. I did it in my jk2door (yea was cramped lol) luckily the old 6 could take any cr@p it found in the middle of nowhere. And even then i wish i had a diesel. Couldn't imagine doing the same with a 4pot turbo that would really want 98.

I notice you use the photographic "white-out" feature every time the interior is shown. Is this to mask the poor quality of materials, fit and finish in there?

For launch videos like these, the footage and b-roll is supplied by the brands themselves, and we don't get much control over how they're shot. We'll have a Wrangler through our garage in our conditions soon, and we'll get a better look (and video) then.

Trent, I've always had a soft spot for the Rubicon as its just so capable out of the box, as you say. For myself, the soft top & mish mash roof panels have always stopped me from putting the dollar down on one. Purchased a 76 series instead, what a over priced over hyped tragedy that was. Sold it off easily went into a Patrol instead, still couldn't come to a Rubicon soley due to the roof. Is it overpriced? Considering you'll pay just about that money for a 2.8 auto GXL 76 that is no where near as capable, no! By the time you put tyres, suspension, comfortable seats etc. in a 76 you'll have spent 20 grand more, and still not be as capable, so either the Rubicon is cheap or the Toyota over priced. The later is true, over priced, over hyped, so buy the Jeep. But, whilst ever it does have a solid roof its off my radar.

I have a 5yo two door Wrangler with hard top. I replaced the front roof panels with a Bestop Sunrider soft top. Folds back easily. Love it! I. Love. My. Jeep!

You get free galvanic corrosion with the jeep as well and a fight with Jeep Australia to get it rectified under Warranty. I wouldnt touch one with a barge pole for that reason alone.

What everyone fails to mention is that its the only open top convertible off-roader available in Australia, no comparison to it when it comes to fun! Believe me! Ive been driving mine daily for ten years! Sunny days with the roof down, no other car available that can do all the cool shit my green jeep can do, smiles all round! Price reflects capability, tech, safety, modern comfort, iconic retro styling, and total RADNESS! How much for a landrover defender again? Defender is not a convertible and neither is the Landcruiser, remember that when factoring in the current pricing!

The base model, still a capable vehicle you can currently get from a dealer for 81 driveaway. Probably still not worth the money though. The crazy thing is, you're paying 9k in taxes plus the terrible Australian dollar against the US dollar.

Yeah, I get the still retro look and love that they still make a properly sorted for off-road version, but 100K for a 2.whatever turbo petrol? Seems expensive. That said, it would cost a fair bit to modify one of our more common 4x4's like a Hilux or Ranger to this level so maybe it's justified. Interesting also the price has come down, I bet anything from Toyota went up another 2k in price while I was writing this reply. ;) Thanks for the video.

Rubicon really good is much better inside now. It is "cheap" In the USA , but as usual in Australia we are over paying getting scammed by three rich taxes put on top of the RRP. The strength of the USD has caused the price in AUS to be prohibitive , when we pay in Aussie $'s for the better Rubicon and yes its way too expensive as usual in Australia we alway over pay for new imported cars . We pay the 3 taxes EG: 1, John Howards rich tax , 2,stamp duty and 3,Gst . Unlike our friends in usa , they don't have to pay three taxes and always pay much less for new cars than we do . EG Americans can buy a new 2024 Porsche 911 S without the 100grand plus taxes we end up paying in Australia on top of the RRP. When is the luxury car tax going ? wasn't it suppose to support holden and Ford manufacturing ?

Where are the front recovery points? I thought they were standard on Rubicons. I also thought the new model hade a steel bumper or is that an option?
@Drivecomau
@Drivecomau 3 ай бұрын
On the MY24 Wrangler, the Rubicon comes standard with the same moulded front bumper as the other models in the range. A winch-compatible steel bumper with recovery points is available as a genuine Mopar accessory, priced from $3290 in Australia.

If the highest trim is $10k off, it will sell. Jeep may have improved on this variant (on paper) but the unfortunate part is its bad reputation. The barrier of entry needs to be lowered to win back the customers who are on the fence.

Over priced and has a deprecation problem when the warranty runs out. Not great for over landing as it won’t carry much load. You also never mentioned what the max towing was. 2.8 auto Landcruiser is around the same price, which I would suggest is the jeep’s biggest competitor.

@23860 Your Triton is Thai built, last Mitsubishi to be Japanese was Pajero, and that ceased production years ago. Jeep, America from beginning to today, so your argument isn't valid. There is simply no way possible a Triton would match a Jeep Rubicon off road, no matter what after market mods you put on it, A/T tyres hahaha, you are in fantasy land.
