Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Wet Carpet Passenger Side Fix FAIL | Jeep Wrangler Wet Floorboards

In this video I try and I fail at fixing my Jeep Wrangler Wet Floorboards. I have had water on the passenger side of my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for a few months now. I tried to go through the Jeep Wrangler the cowl vent but it seems that may not be the problem. In this video you will see me try and fix my wet floorboards and clean out any debri in the hood cowl vent.

The leak if it’s been raining or from the car wash is coming from the area in the door jam (hinge side). About half way down there is a seal, this seal looks like a hard plastic piece and will be facing you, it also has what looks like a button. The water is getting into the Jeep at the bottom of the door at the corner them running into your floor boards. I am fixing my sons Jeep for this same leak. It’s one of the more common leaks.

Danny how do you fix this just went out and looked at my wife's 14 JK that is getting water in the passenger side floor when it rains or a car was like your describing and I noticed in that spot the rubber around the door on that side was kind of folded in vs laying flat like the drivers side when its closed against that hard rubber piece with the button in it. thinking this is it but if you have seen it before wanted to get your thoughts.

After getting the doors to stop leaking on my 17 JKU I still was getting wet carpets. I discovered the previous owner removed the floor plugs. The spray from the tires while driving in the rain the water was entering from the open floor plug holes. After reinstalling the plugs the passenger side was still getting wet. Turned out to be the antenna wire grommet. Smeared on a little silicone and no more leak.

I have a 2016 Unlimited Soft Top with the same issue. Did you ever figure it out? I have rubber mats, and used to only get a couple drops on the passenger side (I thought it was shoes, etc) But now it’s getting worse. I’m thinking it’s the top and it’s running around the door and dripping inside?

Had a VW Passat with same issue. Missing a grommet under chassis and water came in thru hole in chassis.

My Jeep is newer and with these rains it’s flooded Under the back seat is a swamp on the floor ! Hard top dry as a bone NO LEAKS , under the driver seat and passenger seat ... dry . BUT THE FLOOR FOOT MAT AND UNDER THE BACK SEAT ... flooded . What is going on ?

Check the vent on the tailgate!! If a flap is missing, or flipped up it will leak right into the back floor!!

Pull out your glove box and look at the heater core connections. It could be leaking there and running out onto the floor. If not, probably going to have to flush the heater hoses from inside the engine compartment.

John, I just bought a 2016 Wrangler Sport Unlimited., I am having this same exact issue.. there is water on my passenger side floor. First I thought I put the soft top back on wrong but that wasn’t it. The only other thing it could be coming from, in my opinion, is the A.C. I am going to follow the advice u gave and clear the lines. So is this a common problem? Does this happen often? Even though it’s a 2016 it only has 12,000 miles on it so it’s practically brand new. I wouldn’t think the lines would clog that quick but I’m not a mechanic either.

1 year later and I’m finally responding 😂 woopsies! Check your seal on your door and see if it’s warped. I have a little rubber piece that looks like a button that warps my door seal and the water is able to pass as it’s going down the door on the inside. Tried new door seals and different fixes for it. The fixes worked for some people but I haven’t had much luck. I finally gave in and just trashed my carpet and had the floorboard bedlined and put down rubber mats 🤷‍♀️ I don’t even worry about the water anymore because it just goes under the mats and dries whenever, and I don’t have to worry about rust or anything like that because of the bedliner 👍🏻

Could be a pinhole leak in your heater core. Take the carpet out and run it for a while. Line floor with paper towels and see where its comming from.
