Tech Tip: when I did mine I used a 4” wire wheel on a drill to clean up the inner bearing area. It polished it up nice and bearing slipped right in with not much effort. Be sure to grease as you did as well. Love the videos!!

Yep .. you are correct. I took some 220 sandpaper and lightly sanded the rust and crud out. Thanks for dropping in a great tech tip! That helps everyone :-) Have a great day!

Hey man I just want to say thanks and cheers for these videos! Every issue I've had with my YJ, you've covered it in a video. Heater core/blower motor, turn signal lever, turn signal/dimmer switch (2 years later), and now these. I've done a couple of your mods too. Thanks for the straight up talk, torque values, and links. And BIG TIME thanks for no bullish*t music or irrelevant speeches.

Nice little video I do have a little tip for when you were trying to pry wheel bearing out if you would leave the 3 bolts in flush with wheel bearing side you can take hammer and hit the heads of the bolts and it will pop that bearing right out. I've always had better luck that way. Hope it helps you next time
@Poweraddicts
@Poweraddicts 6 жыл бұрын
You are correct. That's the part I didn't get on video. I did that to the lower 2 bolts and finally got the bearing to separate from the spindle. My dad pulled up and I was chatting with him and dropped the ball on getting the video shots of me taping the bolts to "unseat" the bearing. Thanks for dropping in a great suggestion. Have a great day!!

Hi, im doing the same thing to my jeep to grease the bearings, but in the part you take out the hub how did you pull out the nut against it with the 36 mm socket?

What is the purpose of the washer on the tie rod bar? My new kit came with them and it didn’t say where they went. I notice yours are free floating on the rod. Thanks.

Chuck - just ordered hubs and was wondering, should hubs be changed out in pairs, or should you do one at a time as they go out separately? I'm gonna do both sides, though it's my passenger side that's gone bad. Thanks!

Hey buddy, been a long time ghost follower of yours. Is there a way to replace the hubs in my 89 yj with newer ones? I originally went to update my calipers, which I ordered for a yj. But it turns out different yjs have different hubs, even if they are both Dana 30s. Are they cross compatible?

Great video, I replaced mine a while back ago after it made a racket. On an unrelated note, would you happen to know anything about oil leaks? Changed the rear main seal twice, valve cover gasket, head gasket, oil pan gasket twice, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter, and everything is torqued to spec. Still find a tennis ball sized puddle under my YJ everywhere I park. Only other thing I have left is swap a new motor/transmission in, but I'm just a broke college kid so for now I carry oil in the Jeep to refill it when it needs it
@azrick6458
@azrick6458 6 жыл бұрын
Jeepoholic. Sorry to hear about the leak. Take a look at your pcv that it is not plugged and your breather hose to verify is pulling air ( clean filter). You crank case might be pushing out oil through your distributor or dip stick or some of the places you mentioned if not. Good luck

Not knowing what gaskets you are using. Here is what I do. I am very picky about what gaskets I use!! I've purchased engine kits that comes with cork valve cover and oil pans gaskets. I trash cork gaskets EVERYTIME. I will then purchase the gaskets I prefer because leaks are a pain to chase. Here is a Fel-pro oil pan gasket that will serve you well amzn.to/2HLfxia . When buying gaskets I prefer the Fel-pro PermaDry sets. They require NO rtv sealants at all. They are more expensive .... but .. I've NEVER had one leak. Hope that helps! Thanks, glad you like the video! Have a great day!

Roger Shunk Jr. do you happen to know the size of the threads ? Cuz am not to sure and I don’t want to get the wrong one and I heard of this
@Poweraddicts
@Poweraddicts 6 жыл бұрын
As Roger said, the helicoil kits work great. To find the thread size for that bolt or any other, take your bolt into about any hardware store. In the hardware section, they typically have a "find your bolt size" board set up. You simply test fit your bolt into the various holes. When you find the hole that it easily threads into .. there is your bolt size. Hope this helps. Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!
