Jeep Wrangler YJ - Where is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor on a 4.0/2.5 Jeep? How to remove it? And then, How to test the IAT? Here ya go, I covered the basics for you! Along with my son and I acting goofy trying to close the video .. lol .. fun times!! :-)

I have a question I’ve got a 1995 jeep wrangler 2.5 liter 5 speed. The 2 Temperature sensor the one on the water neck is there. I had my block machined and my head was cracked . Shop found me another one and rebuilt it . Well I go putting it together and noticed the sensor on the rear of head is not there. My question is. Can I drill and tap the head ? To complete it

Mine tested 10.00 k ohms base-line ..& hair dryer went 2k 3.7k it seams to work .. but it sure had a bunch of gunk cleaned it out with brake cleaner with Q-Tip . Reason why I did this is cause at 60 mph i get a lot of carbon monoxide in the cab .hopefully this will stop that emissions smell .

Do you put anything on the threads when installing/reinstalling this sensor? Anti seize? Teflon tape? It doesn’t ground to the manifold does it?

I didn't have a meter. I took it out and cleaned it with carb cleaner and its plug with electric cleaner. I don't know if I made a difference or not yet. mines a slow project as I know nothing. because of your videos in learning much.

Sometimes cleaning can help. Especially if it has carbon build up around it. If not, they aren't terribly expensive to replace. Glad you getting value from my channel and videos! Thanks for taking the time to leave great comments! Have a great day!

whats the voltage supposed be going in?, my two sensors are going into one wire for the signal, the voltage going to both sensors is 2.5, WTF?, and yeah the juice varies with temp change but the computer wont increase the pulse width? fired computer?

ive got the 1990 2.5, started running like crap a few weeks ago and hard as hell to start, so I starting digging... the voltage going in to the sensor is 2.5 volts, get this, the hot water temp voltage is 2.5 input same as the other sensor, i, and the signal wire from both are connected to one input going back to the computer, I was told all the sensors run on 5 volts, except for the O2 sensor, the hot wire reads 12 volts, any how I found the 5 volt lead from the WOT, the gizmo that thats out side the TBI contacts the throttle pull outside the TBI so I hooked up the five volts to the temp sensor , and no change at all making sure the signal went back to the computer, did the same test with the mass air temp sensor, nothing changes wont idle, I bought a map sensor and wasted 40 bucks even bought an ignition module, no change, I did a sweep test on the throttle body, 1.8 to 5 volts, I had a alternator issue where the voltage would spike up to 16 volts, so I swapped alternators, now I have a steady 14 volts, Long shot but im betting the computer is screwed, this engine is a mess , i figure since its more than 25 years old it would have issues

I think I'm having a problem with my IAT. I have an 89 2.5 and I can't seem to find a replacement for it. None of the ones I can get at the auto parts stores have the same connector as the one that came off mine. I have a little wire harness attached to a 3 prong connector vs, the two prong that the auto stores have. Theyre trying to tell me that it is a universal one and that i need to disconnect the old one to match up with the new, but that just doesnt sound right. Is there anywhere I can get an oem sensor, or am I just not getting it?

Check www.rockauto.com/ . They often have parts that are "not typical" at the parts store. The 3 prong sensors are typically: ground, supply voltage then signal voltage. The two-wire circuits can either have supply voltage in .. signal voltage coming out. Or, the two wire is completing a ground circuit. Hope this helps because I don't have a 3 wire IAT available to me to test and help you out better.

is that the same sensor as the Manifold air temp sensor that is on the 2.5 l 90 model

According to my service manuals, they are different sensors. I haven't physically compared the two. Have a great day!

Need help I've replaced it twice and still cannot clear the code is there anything I might be missing?

Could be a wiring issue causing it to throw the code. Trace the wiring back to the PCM to make sure there isn't any damage.

I took mine out, took it inside let rest a few mintutes while I ran down my multi meter, set on temp farh.. stuck a led to each terminal and got the temperature in the room I was in. same as same good enough for me
