Yea, I rarely use 4th or 5th gear either because I only drive in town and the back roads I live by. With 35×12.5×15inch tires and a 4 banger 55 or lower is the way to go on my 1995 YJ. I love this jeep cheep on gas , and fun on the weekends for play time lol.

Hey Eric hows it goin? i see you are a 4 banger fan and i have just made a real breakthrough in getting a lot more power out of the 2.5 in my 95 wrangler. what ive found out is the ecu is mainly restricting a lot of the power and there is a way around it. very simple and cheap upgrade that unleashed power especially in the above 3500. i also noticed crisper throttle response down low so that was a plus too.

Badass build, man. Like the other comment, I also don't mind my 4-cylinder. I don't use 5th gear unless I'm going on a downhill/flat road with the wind against the tailgate... Otherwise, I decelerate on my 32's.No, I won't win any drag races or tractor pulls, but it does what I need. Reliable, easy to maintain and parts are everywhere. Take care, bud.

Love it but here in North Carolina the State Troopers would have a field day writing you tickets. Here if you don't have fenders you get a ticket plus if you have fenders but the tires stick out over 1/2 inch you get a ticket. They say it's dangerous to other drivers because your tires will sling debris all over other vehicles

PS I love that you love the 4 cylinder engine. Everyone else talks crap about it. However, it is a reliable engine and get the job done. I run 31" tires and can achieve 70 miles per hr on the hwy; however, it has no passing speed and slows way down on hills unless I acquire some speed. Shit, it requires some driving skill. lol
@theyjcpa6 жыл бұрын
Saint James yeah passing sucks but I stay in far right lane and cruise. It’s a nice setup. I was surprised how well it turned out bc I was worried it wouldn’t turn the wheels.

Some corrections: The Anti wrap came in kit but majority of the set up was custom built. Ask me about how to install the RCVshaft in a waggy 44 and I can prolly show you photos of areas you can grind down on the Knuckle. The Zip locker is only missing a air line and the air compressor is in the rear of the bed.

Mitch sounds like stout plan! The antiwrap parts came from rough stuff I believe but the tubing is all local. That antiwrap was fabricated also by my friend. I left it with him for a week and he figured it all out for me lol.

Hello I’m in NJ too. Nice Jeep love all those must have upgrades. Your door close strap gave me an idea as mine passages on side broke lol but I was wondering did you send it to someone to get them re gear I’m thinking going for 4.88 after mine Ford 8.8 swap what do you think I’m currently on 33s and want to upgrade to 35s also doing a 1inch body lift from Rough as currently I sit in 2inch shackle lift
@MR-qw6zx3 жыл бұрын
Nope I built the axles. I actually sold the Jeep last year. 4.88s are good. I’d prolly step up to 5:13s but you may have to change out the housing. Might be a good time to drop in a mechanical locker. There are a few gear calculators to help you. I think 5:13s are like a no looking back option. I would scan the Jeep forums for something similar to your rig specifically motor and trans and ask get reviews on their gearing setups. It’s a fun hobby but gets pricey. If you are patient and willing to learn, gearing axles are not difficult especially when not on the rig.

Hey fellow YJ'er! This Jeep really looks tough. Nice to have a Dad to help you out. Mine is pure stock. What would you suggest for the cheapest axil upgrade you'd do in retrospect? I love the color of yours! This 4 or 6 cyl?
@theyjcpa6 жыл бұрын
isshinryu11 thanks for your comment. This is a 4 cyl. I would say do a ford 88 out of a 2000 -2004 explorer. Look for 4:10 gears. I put a lot of money in this and hindsight, tons would have been a one time build with the same amount of dough. If your on a budget the ford 88 with 4:10 gearing would be the cheapest and easiest swap especially if you have a 4cyl because the front Dana 30 should have 4:10s. If you keep your front Dana 30 I would stay under 35s because there pretty weak axles. But hell do as you please bc there probably super cheap to replace if they break. Hope this helps.
@georgiajeepsandguns82772 жыл бұрын
I’d say do a 8.8 swap in the rear the one out of the explorer comes with a stock limited slip. Then for the front I’d keep the stock 30 they don’t have the best reputation but the yj 30 is a high pinion so it’s the better of the 30s. Since the stock 30 is a disconnect you can just slap in a lunch box locker you won’t have any poping unless ur in 4wd so you won’t wear out parts while driving on the streets. I might make a video about my dads yj and talk about all that stuff but u definitely don’t have to break the bank to have a really capable jeep.

I would say no way to the 37" with the 4 banger. You will never be able to maintain Hwy speed especially up hills.
