Say what you want about this movie but Jeepers Creepers was one of the more unique movies to surface in a long time. The storyline had just the right amount of blood, jump scares, and wit as well. The part I believe gave the movie its edge and eeriness was the demon's connection to the missing people over the years. We slowly begin to find out that it isn't just some serial killer offing people along a rural highway and that he's been perfecting his craft for a looong time. The urban legend of the missing teens and the demon behind it all is what made it creepy for me, kinda like finding out that a local bogeyman myth (e.g. slenderman) was based on an actual person.

The opening encounter with the Creeper and him dumping bodies down the tube is based on reality, it was a man of course but a couple was driving down such a road and tailgated by a maniac in a truck and passed him later dumping a body down a tube by a church and he chased after them again.

It does actually explain the driving a truck thing, it "smells" what it wants through fear, driving the truck like it does allows it to smell if it wants something from the passengers of the car, and if it doesn't then it moves on leaving no more stories to tell then "oh there was a creepy truck and it did such and such to us on the road" instead of "oh a monster was on that road" long story short it's a much more discreet way for the creeper to create fear to "smell" than just jumping out and saying boo, allowing it to pick its meals and saving it the time(which it has little of, 23 days every 23 years) and effort of having to kill even the people he wants nothing from
I love JeremyJahn's nickname for The Creeper. "Hillbilly Man-Bat." lol I actually liked this movie. I thought the anti-happy ending made it good. xD

I never noticed the zipper before, but you can definitely see the contact lenses in the Creeper's eyes in the penultimate scene in the interrogation room. I'm glad you liked the movie despite all the wonk, as it's also a favorite of mine. I thought the actor who played the Creeper did a genuinely excellent job of being downright horrific, just getting right into the other actors' personal spaces and rattling them.
@katiebayliss98875 жыл бұрын
ZorkFox if you've ever seen the behind the scenes its kinda funny. The guy that plays the creeper is really good looking, but when he shaves his head he looks different and there's a behind the scenes part where he's getting in someone's face and sniffing him without the creeper makeup its very intimidating. So yeah the actor is really good at the character.
@mst3KGf10 жыл бұрын
Most reviews of this movie seem to agree that the first half of the movie is terrifying, the second half less so as the Creeper changes from an unknown menace to just another rubber-suited demon and then rallies for that great downbeat ending and horrific final shot. I also quite like it because of Long and Phillips as the protagonists. While, as you said, they aren't deep characters or anything, they are likable and we care about their fates (a must for any decent horror movie). Plus, they've got the "siblings on a road trip" act down pat, what with the banter and the silly games.

"in this kind of situation, are shoe laces REALLY that important". Yes. Indeed yes. Imagine, if you will, something happens and he has to run... only to trip on the laces or have the laces snag into something trapping him. Then you'd say "What an idiot, if only he tied his shoes he'd have survived!" There was literally nothing happening at that moment, no threat noticed. Now had the Creeper been coming at him, and THEN he decides to tie his shoes... you got a point.

16:26- Honestly, as many times as I've seen this, I never noticed that zipper before. I'd still say it's a great creature design and the film as a whole can be forgiven for its flaws compared to what it does well. Considering its low budget of only 10 million, which isn't a lot in the world of cinema even for 2001, it's remarkable what they accomplished here. *:)* 2 in my opinion wasn't quite as good but still exceptional in its own right. @Hardrada_1293 жыл бұрын
It seems the Creeper wanted Dary the whole time, it wanted his eyes. Both for what Dary saw in the House of Pain, and for the fact that if you pay close attention to the Creeper, you'll see that its eyes are foggy, as if it were going blind and needed a new pair. That's also why it removed Dary's eyes by going through the back of his skull, it preserved the eyes and meant Dary would suffer more before dying. On another note I love this movie. The second was okay, and the third was disappointing. The franchise overall is a top 10 for me, and I'm glad it's seemingly out of Salva's hands and with someone with a less sinister background. It's just a shame his history harmed the movies so much, it's rather unfair to the countless actors, crew, and producers who were all invested in these films, and who weren't child m****ters.

Don't forget at the beginning of the film, Trish is holding glasses the first time you see her. It's very easy to miss, but it's there. It could be that Trish needed glasses, but wore contacts throughout the movie. Because of her poor eyesight, the Creeper was never going to choose her, no matter how much she pleaded and begged. It was always gonna be Darry, for all the reasons you said. It adds an extra layer of foreshadowing that I never noticed before.

I find the first two thirds of the film to be fantastic, it maintains a really tense and eerie mood as well as making a very traditional concept original and exciting. The Creeper's lair and the Creeper himself are both amazing. That being said, it really starts to go downhill in the last third and I DETEST the ending. Maybe it's just because Darry was such a babe (haha), but it was super disappointing to not get to see any kind of end battle, I always feel like they decided to cut the last twenty minutes and just slapped on the ending to give it some kind of conclusion. However, it still makes for a super fun watch and is a personal favorite from the era.

The one aspect I wish they had changed - the ending. Namely, how it showed precisely what the Creeper had done with the eyes of his victim, rather than just staying at hinting at it. The thing I freaking *loved* was the dynamic between the two, especially the rationale for poking their noses into it. She rightly points out that the most prudent thing would be getting the cops involved, but his counter is equally valid - they have no idea how long it'd be before they could find a phone, and time could easily be of the essence in that situation. And their dynamic throughout the rest of the film - where they have sibling fights but still obviously love each other - is absolutely beautiful.

Then about 2 years later I see it on FX and I am wondering if it's the same movie, since I came in during the final hour hour of the movie, and I genuinely enjoy it. The weird thing is then I watched it all the way through, and I still hate the first half hour mainly because, they have a perfectly functional car, access to a phone, and never once just go to the police instead of going to their wacky antics, only seeking authority figures once it's hilariously obvious they are in over their heads. Probably because it has no desire to be psychic. It doesn't need to be. The demon possesses everything it ever needs. Also, the demon only kills and consumes those who emit pheromones to his liking (all humans have their own unique pheromone "scent"), he sniffed jezzabelle but wasn't interested in anything she had to offer.

watched this movie at my cousin's when I was waaay too young, too date no movie has scared me like this I love horror movies now and don't get scared in the slightest, this movie still is so unsettling and I genuinely find it scarier than any other horror.

"Aunt Jemima" doesn't die because she shows no fear to the Creeper. He literally smells your fear.

hey man dig ur reviews and this is one of my fav horror movies of all time, the only movie that ever scared me when i saw it. But you criticizing how he runs them off the road which somehow works and how hes messing with them and not just killing them DOES make sense. Remember, the creeper feeds on your fear.

At the first scenes they were stalked from the start you an see that the creeper did something to the other car in the background.
