The only real legit JKD instructor who trained with Ted Wong and Jesse Glover. Compared to his age, he's way faster than most of us in our early 20's to mid 20's.

Thumbs down?....Probably the people still stuck in classical wing chun JKD....remember Bruce threw that crap away. Simplicity is less training. Imagine all those wasted hours trying to learn hand traps, flows, and counters. Bruce said a good boxer would just move and outclass the wing chun person as Tommy here demonstrates. Beautiful video! Thanks for the lesson....keep them coming.

That's incorrect, he did threw WC away, and he never went bac to WSL except twice once in the 60 and once in the 70 and in the 70s, reportedly WSL couldn't touch him during a sparring session. Yes he analysed other stiles, but did not trained them like people think, or just took pieces form here to there.

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO Did Bruce really throw WC trapping away? Or did he find that he didn't need it (most of the time) because he was just that good? If you're really good compared to your opponent, why would you trap? You wouldn't. You don't need to. Just go straight for the target and finish it. But if you're not that good/fast/quick, then arguably you need a fall-back. Maybe that's where trapping and the rest of the traditional repertoire comes in?

Well! I have been interested in the combative arts since 1979, and have trained both formally and with whoever I could find. I had given up on the eye jab as something with limited value since a punch would serve you better- or so I thought. Tommy here just made me realize it is the same as using a low kick to close the gap. Who doesn't flinch and overreact when they get poked in the eye?

I got NEWS for ya,' JKD inCLUDES boxing. JKD is whatever the practitioner MAKES it---It encompasses any form or style that works for the individual. Wing Chun is simply the STARTING point. It's weird that so many people fail to understand Lee's general philosophy. But, no matter; have a pleasant Holiday.

Although Wing Chun doesn't DEFINE, JKD, the technique/s of simultaneous block/punch, stop-kick, etc., are extremely beneficial in developing, not only SPEED, but quick Reaction time...Well, it worked for ME, anyway. @@raygsbrelcik5578in order to learn JKD, you would have to unlearn the odd WC structure and mechanics. It's so much different from jkd that it makes practicaly zero sense. There was never any silence in the car as I would ask as many questions as possible lol , he never hid anything and would always blow me away with his natural problem solving skills. It quickly became apparent that he did not think he was a genius and that is how I see him. He is old school Glasgow and a complete gentleman.. People like him have rarely crossed my path.

Walter Evans. I agree with Ebenezor here. I don't think Tommy was/is a genius. I think he just started being obsessed since 15 or 16 and went very slow and wanted to understand Bruce's thinking and method perfectly. So he just was very meticulous to do things correctly and copy movement, technique, read endlessly etc. Isaac Newton was a genius. I think Tommy is analytical and smart but just worked god damn hard and likes to keep progressing whilst always being precise in what he practices and teaches.

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO I already know that he studies and teaches this. Just think of this, you train to be a professional boxer your whole life and learn all the workouts and routines and show that you are exceptional in your training but you never enter tournaments or put your training to the test. What is the point of it then and how can you know if it works if you don't test it against credible opponents. I personally wouldn't want to study something and teach my whole life without ever applying it to really test myself. Like Bruce Lee said, boards don't hit back.
